The gist of my posts are that one can't lump any one group together. Guess ya missed that. |

Claiming "racism" is a lucrative cottage industry in the U.S. for blacks. Therefore, employers simply opt out of the headache & move their operations across the border to Mexico or overseas. The only jobs left in the U.S. are for skilled trades people or those with marketable degrees. With the exception of the proportionately large black underclass, blacks find employment in federal, state or local government. Just check USAJOBS.GOV

The Gov't used to be an "equal opportunity employer," they are now strongly committed to "diversity" and "affirmative action." Translation: white males need not apply. |

Anyone who thinks black people haven't gotten completely shafted is out of their mind, especially blacks in America.
Look for 500 years their people were enslaved and denied education and the opportunity for educational advancement. For many black folks in the south this continued up until the 1960s. Think about that. There are millions of black folks who were born into a Segregation that are still alive. Then consider how many blacks are 1st generation offspring.
All things considered, for African-Americans to have achieved all they have in the last 50 years in spite of all of that is truly remarkable.
If you want an idea of how bad things are, you think white foreigners are viewed poorly in Korea? That's maybe 1/6th of how bad it is to be black anywhere in the world. Look how much people complain about racism and the lack of diversity and negative media perceptions on this board. |

Yeah, I'm sure this has nothing to do with infinitely worse worker protection laws across the board and wages that are one tenth of what workers in the States make. |

From a Dallas newspaper:
In midst of the boycott and protest against the MLK Boulevard Diamond Shamrock and Kwik Stop store, the owner spoke to The Dallas Weekly on Jan. 10 and gave his response to the allegations and issues against his operation. Although he was identified in a previous Dallas Weekly story, he asked that his name not be used in this statement and also declined to be photographed, because he said he simply feels threatened and subject to retaliation.
Here are his comments:
I don't like it with what people are saying that I'm a racist and that I don't serve the Black community. I've been here for 10 years, I could have left a long time ago. Ninety-nine percent of my customers are Black people; how can I be a racist to work in an all-Black community for that long? I have Black people who work for me at the store, I hire Black people all the time. Most of the fighting and crime at my store is between Black people and Black people.
---------------------------------
And from the protester's side:
The activists have since come up with a name for their coalition: Don't Stop Don't Shop. It's Facebook official and everything. And Wright, spurred on by DSDS, is spearheading an effort to buy the gas station -- an effort he says is close to success.
"I've got a guy ready to write a check tomorrow," Wright tells Unfair Park. There are actually two black suitors looking to buy the place, he says. He won't divulge their names, but he says the positives of the transaction would be two-fold: It gets an accused racist out of South Dallas, and it injects a majority-black area with a likely lucrative, black-owned business.
"Whites have businesses, Mexicans have businesses, Koreans have businesses," Wright says. "In South Dallas! But African-Americans don't own any businesses in their own community." |

We don't need any more of those █████s here. This is a █████ community and we should have █████-owned businesses.
Disgusting. |

Yeah it seems the other side seem to imagine they are the only ones with rights and have special privalagdes and a monopoly on entitlement to respect over issues of ethnic predjudice. The black guy cast the first stone with his 'go back to your own country.' |

lol...when Companies were still not trying to hire blacks back in the '70s despite the CRA and other legislation it was the govenrment (local, state and federal) that were mainly the only ones willing to hire blacks and other minorities, including women. Women were slow to climb the corporate ladder as well but saw promotions available if it was earned in the public sector.
Working for the government untiil fairly recently wasn't the goal of many people. It was seen as being unambitious. Being an accountant for the city and an accountant at a private practice was seen as two different things. It wasn't until the private sector started laying off people in droves that a government job was seen as a safe haven for everyone else.
The government was basically the ONLY equal opportunity employer for a while. The private sector had to catch up to the government.
So, I think you got your dynamics incorrect. Do I think some blacks cry racism all too often? Definitely. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Sharpton and a few others. However, I disagree its done to the degree you seem to suggest.
Also, its a socio-economic thing. The poor will always be more apt to suggest it.
Blaming the poor, minorities, immigration, etc. for a person's plight has also been a lucrative industry for politicians as well. When a minority says they can't get a job because of racism, we say its an excuse but when some of us can't get a job its because of immigrants and affirmative action. We tell one group its their own fault until its us without a job then its someone else's.
I think you overstate the amount of minorities claiming racism. Black unemployment is far higher than the average but you dont hear cries of racism much as you once would because everyone knows the economy is crap and there are more than enough minority success stories over the past 20 or 30 years in business, etc. to suggest its not so. |

Where's the NAACP on this one?
No hate charges in Center City cab attack
THREE JUVENILES accused of assaulting a cabdriver and his passenger in Center City Saturday night while shouting racial slurs will not be charged with a hate crime, the District Attorney's Office said yesterday.
The teens, who are black, were not charged with hate crimes because there was no evidence that the assault had been motivated by the race of the victims, who are white, said Tasha Jamerson, D.A. spokeswoman. Just shouting racial epithets during the commission of a crime doesn't rise to the level of ethnic intimidation, she said.

Totally agree it should be a hate crime. There are many such cases. Is it an issue that should be addressed? Certainly. IDoes white on black racism get far more press than black on white? Most definitely. Its not right. Is it the one defining issue of America above all else. No. I get just as peeved when women make out things to be sexist that aren't in my opinion or when religious types argue about the war on religion as well. Annoying but its far, far low of things I would deem America should be focusing on.
What I am seeing is this over indulgence on anything race related. Huge deficits, country debt ridden but it seems your main concern is what the NAACP does or doesn't do.
Some one must have gotten beaten up byh a minority kid or something. I usually find that people pre-occupied with this have some personal drama in their life that makes them focus on this sort of issue.
Have we even heard from the NAACP in recent years? No. Why? My guess is they are becoming obsolete. As they should if we are moving to a prejudice free nation. Same goes for women, gay, latino, etc. rights groups. As I said, there were Irish groups of a smilar nature in America in the 1800s but aren't around today because they have assimilated totally into America. I'm hoping the same for other groups such as the NAACP.
Noticing this stuff as an aside is one thing. Making these kinds of things the main focus of your life makes you race conscious as much as if not more than groups like the NAACP.
Get a life buddy. |

What those potential black business owners don't realize is that the reason Mr. Park does well is because he probably puts in 60 hour weeks, even on holidays. He is saving a CRAPLOAD of money on labor.
How likely do you think it is that the new Black business owner is going to be manning that cash register and stocking those shelves and filling up gas 60 hours a week, 365 days a year? |
