I know there are other threads about this but several of them are outdated and none of what I saw addressed my question.

Has anyone studied Korean at Yonsei under the "8 Level Regular Course"?

I'm not even sure what that means since the website only gives a course description for the 6 Level Course.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with the two. Like, do they use different textbooks or what?

I believe it's just a slower-paced track for non-Asian language speakers, which I think is a horrible idea because most Korean language programs in Seoul are too slow-paced already, especially at the intro levels. Way too much "fluff time," though it was admittedly better than my experience in Mexico.

Thanks for responding. I figured as much as what you said but I guess I'm just trying to see if anyone had first hand experience with the 8level program.

The 6lvl and 8lvl courses are the same. The 6lvl course is for students that can already read and write Korean.

If you can't read or write Korean, you start at the 8lvl course. If you can read and write Korean you can start at the 8lvl course also if you want. Level 1 in the 8lvl course they spend a lot of time teaching the alphabet, pronunciation, etc...

So IMO, you should just learn the alphabet first and start the 6lvl course. The 6lvl course actually has 7lvls if you can make it that high.

Yonsei KLI uses a very boring teaching method. Lots of repetition.

Edit: Textbooks are the same. In the 6lvl course you spend the first day practicing reading and pronunciation. The 8lvl course you spend a week or so learning the alphabet etc

Thanks!

That's more what I was looking for. Sounds like the only difference is at the beginning...
