Hello I am interested in teaching in South Korea next term. I am currently working in Thailand at a private school and I am interested in finding a similar position in Korea.

I found my job here by searching on the internet for a list of private and catholic schools in Thailand. It took a lot of work and I had to go deep into a Google search to find it, but I found a list with contact info and mailed out my CV to several schools, and eventually got a job that way.

I have tried doing the same thing for teaching positions in Korea and I found a black list and a white list of schools, but nothing more than that. My term is coming to a close and I would like to line something up soon.

Any advice on finding work with private or Catholic schools in South Korea?

Korea has very few private schools compared to public. (compared to Oz where Catholic schools are so numerous so they set their own leaving certificate tests) Secondly they tend to be long in tradition so they hire 'in-house' mostly. Thirdly, new ones are very ambitious so the teachers are highly reputable. Then there are 'christian' schools with reputation as border-line 'occult'. So if you want re-do your Thai fling in Korea, you'll have to do lot more than looking for info online: get a recruiter, make connections, and so on.
