I just watched The Help... which was sentimental tripe... but anyway, it did really make me crave soul food. Anyone know of any in Seoul? Hell, I'd settle for a place with fried chicken and mashed potatoes that aren't total crap...

Make your own? Military base?

But I think collards and okra would be hard to find, although you could probably find some Korean leafy out there that would substitute...Seasoning for Collards may be a bit touch and go, depending on where you are at.

On the plus side, Pig Feet and chitlins should be pretty easy to come by.

Put on some Jill Scott and go to work. Best done on a weekend so you can cook everything properly.

Korean grocery stores have something similar to Kale or collard greens. Foreign food mart in Itaewon has frozen Okra.

you probably have to make the soul food yourself.

Suji's has meatloaf. Butterfinger pancakes has some good "diner" food.

my friend cooks with okra and collard greens and he always shops at either costco or emart. one of those places has it.

what do you think the demand for a southern/cajun style joint is? he's planning on opening a new orleans style restaurant here in a year or two

It woudl be popular amongst foreigners. I think Koreans are too unfamiliar with southern/cajun cuisine.

Oyster Poboy, crawfish boils, Biscuits and gravy, Grits, breaded catfish, gumbo, jambalaya, spoonbread,...yum..
