For anyone who's gotten a little gassy from all the Korean food and protein (and when I say a little I mean rippin' it every 30 minutes): Is there any meds that you can buy at the pharmacy to maybe help neutralize the gas? Any Korean form of beano or Gas-X? All that kimchi man... |

you know you could save them the embarrassment of acting out the symptoms by giving them the name of the meds. Assuming you still have them...

you could try this broken Korean phrase: 나는 자만심이 약물이 필요 (naneun jamansim-i yagmul i pil-yo) which I think roughly means I need flatulence medication that or I need a vanity drug... my Korean is pretty poor. |

I've heard that Beano or Gax-X is ineffective in elimnating flatulance. Maybe its the placebo effect that makes peopel think it works. |

Most people don't know the name of the actual medicine they're taking. They know a brand name and that's it.
That brand name is useless to a pharmacist in Korea unless they're going to sit down and google it.
You need the name of the active ingredient
In the case of Gas-x it's Simethicone
an extra strength Gas-x has 125mg in it
They recommend, 1-2 at a time, no more than 4 in a 24 hour period
There are several brands of it in Korea:
http://www.druginfo.co.kr/search2/search.aspx?q=Simethicone
This one is over the counter:
가스티콘산(시메치콘)
the konglish starts with "Gas"
but your pharmacist may not have it in stock. You can ask them to order whatever size package it comes in and they can usually get it for you next day. Just keep it on hand.
It's an 80 mg pill so you could take 1-3 at once, max 7 in 24 hours (going off the gas-x dosage information) |
