I think this is the bigger issue. In many cases, Koreans aren't cheap on heat so much as ludicrously inefficient. I've pointed to the near complete lack of double-paned windows throughout the country, but there are other areas that they could improve their efficiency. Windows here are awfully drafty, even in newer buildings, and the tendency to leave windows and doors open in the dead of winter doesn't help things either. I shudder to think of the amount of heat I lose due to people leaving the window in my hallway open. Fresh air be damned, it's completely nonsensical and raises heating costs. |
