I'm baffled by this plain or (해라체) form.
Of course, if you take a simple verb like 가다,
you can have:
가
가요
갑니다
but the plain form one would be more formal than 가요 but less formal than 갑니다
it would be: 간다
Does anyone ever use this in spoken Korean? I heard that it can be used in written Korean sometimes and it's also an important conjugation for other grammatical expressions that add on to that type of verb conjugation.
I'm mostly curious to hear if anyone uses during discussions. If so, who would be respected enough to get that type of conjugation yet not formal enough to receive the 갑니다? |

I've heard it's used in the news a lot.
The other night I heard it used in exclamation as a father cheered his kid at a kindergarten performance by repeatedly yelling:
잘한다! |

I use it all the time. Koreans also.
간다, 잔다, 한다, 쓴다 etc
I think it's between formal and informal. Also used alot in writing. |

Hmm, I think there's a couple different uses of that ending. One is for use in writing, like newspapers. Another is just really plain, like "나 간다." Also it's used to express excitement/surprise, like "아! 온다!" |
