Talking Club is EBY. It stands for Ee Bo-yeong. I worked for an EBY outfit in Incheon. When those scum refused to pay what they owed, all the headquarters wanted to know was if we teachers would make a stink that would tarnish the national name. Don't ever work for EBY.

I worked for E Bo Young and it was fine, everyone there was paid on time and everything we were owed...but you'd have to talk to someone who works at that particular branch. Ask your recruiter to get you an email address or phone number from the current teacher....if they refuse, then don't work there. Otherwise, you can't judge one hagwon based on what happened at the other branches, be it good or bad, each school has an independent owner.

Thank you so much to those that responded. I wanted to add that if you have something negative to say, please include a little bit of an explanation.

Here's my explanation for my stance in the post above:

1. The national headquarters refuses to accept any responsibility for what the people they sell (actually, pimp) their name to.

2. The more foreigners who refuse to work for any outfit connected with the chain to which any hagweon mistreated another foreigner, then the national chain will start to notice the negative impact of their devil-may-care approach.

3. I used to be one of the foreigners making excuses for the national headquarters for all the chains. Now my eyes are open and realize that's just enabling behavior for the cheats.

I was shortchanged on owed money at the end of my time working at Lee Bo Young's talking club in Bundang. I can't recommend working there.

I worked for an E.Bo Young Talking Club in Anyang and never had any big issues. The head office were always helpful however the books are boring and most schools have only a couple of western teachers max, therefore you might have to teach hours on end.
Good luck.
