Obviously I know with an E-2 visa you can only work at one job legally. However, I'm under the assumption that if your director of your school allows it, you can also work at a second part time job. Is this true or is it more of an immigration regulated and monitored thing?
Q:If my boss allows me to work at a second job is it legal?

A: As a rule of thumb...No. Any extra job involves taking your ARC to Immigration where this second job must be listed on and stamped by Immigration. There are however 2 exceptions to this rule.
1) You can work at more than one public school legally without the need to notify Immigration IF your employer is the local POE. ( Note that after-school programs may or may not fall under this category depending on the specific circumstances.)
2) If your employer owns the second location you are working in then again it is legal. However you would be wise to verify this with Immigration as a fair number of private school owners are less than honest. |

3) If you work at a public school or for a government agency you cannot take a job at a 2nd employer who is NOT a government agency.
4) ALL subsequent jobs need the approval of immigration within 14 days of commencement of employment (changed from prior approval) and noted on your ARC.
5) the subsequent jobs cannot use more of your time or pay better (gross) than your primary job.
To add the 2nd or subsequent job you need:
ARC
passport
contract (from both employers)
written permission with stamp from current employer/sponsor
application
60k won for the addition of a workplace
