For the person who wanted to know what the visa looks like: kind of boring, honestly. It's just a little card with some counterfeit-prevention and info about you. There isn't even a photo, which had me curious as to what they needed the photo for. (I joked in the FB group that we're all just so good looking they wanted pictures to gaze at.)

I'm really leaving in 6 days! I'm SO excited!!!

I don't think visas typically have pictures on them, but they all require a photo probably to keep in their computer system. The visa is boring looking except it has weird edges.

Hi, I just joined the forums and I'm about two weeks from going to teach public school through EPIK in Chungnam Province. Does anyone have any experience in Chungnam or advice they can give me?

I'm starting to worry about the medical cover provided by EPIK. Do we need to buy our own medical cover/travel insurance in case we have a real medical problem or need to be sent home?

Is anyone else worried about the drug test? My orientation information letter said to not even take over the counter meds, and I was looking forward to taking benadryl for the long flight to help me sleep. I don't use illegal drugs, so i'm not worried about that, but would like to be able to use over the counter meds if needed.

My gf and I just got offers for a May 1 start in Gangwon. I had her join the EPIK facebook group so she can find some other people going to that region. Its not the ideal place, but we will have a good time and if anyone else is going to that region hit me up.

You won't need medical cover.

I don't know what a real medical problem is but there are hospitals in Korea.

By the way when do the EPIK teachers arrive? Has to be soon.

I'm arriving on Saturday, there's more arriving over the weekend. It's going to be pretty hectic!

Depending on which country you are from, you may want to steer clear of benadryl. From what I understand, benadryl purchased in Australia contains pseudoephedrine which can cause a false positive result for methamphetamine. Pseudoephedrine may or may not be in benadryl in your country (check the ingredients). I believe diphenhydramine (benadryl) can also cause a false positive for benzodiazepines but you'd have to consume a fair bit for that to happen. Either of these false negatives would be able to be cleared up with further testing. I personally would rather not be requiring any further testing.

It's probably a good idea to steer clear of any of the anti-anxiety pills typically prescribed by doctors for long haul flights as well. I'm guessing benzodiazepines may also show up on the test and, even if you have a prescription, it will be easier not to have to explain yourself to the superiors in Korea.

There is an alternative to pharmaceuticals provided free of charge on most long haul flights: Red Wine

Does anyone know how they are getting us to our destinations after we are done with the orientation. I've been meticulously packing to be under the weight limit for my flight, but I didn't think to ask if we were being flown to our cities from Seoul. I know weight limits are generally lower if you aren't flying to and from America. Oh, I'm going to Busan, which I think would be one of the few places they would fly teachers to because of the distance.

The orientation for Busan teachers is in Jeonju isn't it?

If so, it'd only be about 3-4 hours on a bus from Incheon to Jeonju and about the same again to Busan from there. I'd be very surprised if they put anyone on a flight. Is there even a commercial airport at Jeonju?

Hey guys

I'm due to leave in April (orientation is on the 20th) I know the feb orientation has just started.

I was wondering when you guys started preparing yourselves to leave? My recruiter said I won't recieve my contract or NOA till the 2nd or 3rd week of March but that literally gives me a month to sort myself out, i.e shop and pack.

I want to start preparing maybe beginning of the month but do you think it's better to wait till I get my documents? I won't be buying my plane ticket till i get my visa obviously but nothing feels confirmed until i recieve my documentation...

I think i'm just being paranoid? lol

For re:cursive and the guys talking about taking medication before travelling, I guess that means I can't take the valium I've been prescribed for the flight?!

I'm with Mr T on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaJOeLuUD94

I am due to leave in April for Busan, as well. I haven't heard much from my recruiter since late January. She said to be patient until the NOA and Visa information packet arrives in March. Do you have any more updates, ajoshi? Have you received the NOA yet? (I have a nightmare that they will just forget about us and the NOA will never arrive) :p

omg finally someone out there starts in April too! I keep thinking this is a joke and I have a feeling I'm annoying my recruiter cos i keep sending him emails to find out what's happening! lol

I haven't recieved anything yet...it's stressing me out... I've had to start preparing stuff to leave and its a nightmare cos I haven't got my contract or NOA yet. I applied direct and the guy emailed be about a month ago saying that he'll email me when he recieves my docs...that's the last update i have... will you be teaching in Busan?

I've been having the same nightmares.... Sad
