I am new here and could not find anything directly related to my question so here is goes.

I have received my FBI check and know I need to send it off to get Apostilled before I can get a job and visa. But since I have to name Korea as the country where the document is to be used I am a bit hesitant since what happens if I don't find something in Korea and instead end up in Japan or Taiwan etc? I assume sending off original documents like the FBI check would come later in the application process so I should have time to do this later especially if I use an expedited service.

Should I wait to get the Apostille until I have a school at least interested in me?

Thanks in advance for your time and replies.

whatever you do use a courier service. That will take a few days and cost you 50.00 at most. If you send by mail it will take up to 8 weeks to get back.

It won't matter what you put on the application form for the apostille (Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Togo, etc).

It all comes back the same.

Definitely do not wait. As the guy above said, it doesn't come back with the name of a country on it or anything like that. If you wait until you are lining up a job, you risk the possibility of delay.

You are aware you can get it notarized w/affadavit at the Embassy and Immigration will accept it in this manner? Just did it this past week.

Mine was an extension, but they are also accepting it for my transfer to another employer... not sure if that makes a difference.

Regardless, what a confusing process... Rolling Eyes
