It's been ten years since I was last in South Korea. I am heading there for a High School teaching contract at the end of February and will be looking for activities to get involved in. I am interested in Volunteering, taking up Tae Kwon Do, language exchange and learning Korean; and meeting fellow Australians or Canadians for coffee or general conversation.
Some pointers about what to do in Yongin is helpful. I know Everland and the traditional Korean Village is located there, but you don't go there every week right? I don't drink alcohol like I used to unless I am dining. I am past the 45 year old stage, so life slows down a lot more.
My invitation for shared activities is open to South Korean and English speaking nationals. Non gender biased and age open. Sorry but I won't go to bars to get drunk, that is not what I am interested in. I can not PM posters because I am new to the forum again. I look forward to meeting you in Yongin. |

I just felt obliged to post this since your an Australian who will be living in Yongin
Hantaek Botanical Garden in Yongin (near Everland). At 826 square meters it is the biggest Australian greenhouse outside of Australia. Visitors can enjoy native Australian trees and plants all year round.
Maybe you can just hang arround there and others will show up |

I was thinking of more constructive things to do rather than wait and watch trees grow I already stated that I am interested in Tae Kwon Do or keeping fit. FYI there are many physically and mentally active individuals in their forties. I am one of them. The only time I am sedantary is when I am reading a book or watching educational TV programs. I am learning Hangul at the moment too; humans are social beings, there is nothing better than learning a musical instrument or language by the forties mark. Why? It has been scientifically proven that learning a language or an instrument at this age staves off senility. That is one reason why I have also stated I am interested in language exchange. |
