|
|
Hi, I would be VERY VERY grateful for any advice on this. Basically, I need a quiet, clean-looking place for a Skype job interview -- preferably where I can use my own laptop -- and preferably in the Sinchon area (i.e. near Yonsei).
The key issue here is the Internet connection. Three weeks ago I tried to interview from my apartment. Big mistake. South Korea is known for hyperfast connections, so you wouldn't think this would be such a huge problem, but the video kept freezing and breaking up, and finally it became a phone interview done by computer. It was very embarrassing, and obvious that the problem was on my end. I wasn't surprised when I was told a few days later that the committee had chosen someone else as their top candidate.
I asked a Korean friend about this and she helpfully came up with ideas, but none of them sound promising--e.g., PC bangs or "multi bangs," which just aren't the right setting, or a place called Mindeulle-Yeongto, which sounded good at first, but then she added that the "seminar rooms" on the upper floors probably don't have good network connections.
This interview I have coming up is probably the biggest thing that will happen to me in 2012. I would be willing to pay 100,000 won just to rent a professional-looking office/seminar room for an hour. THANK YOU for any advice |

Contact a local business hotel.
They should have a business center with an adequate connection and appropriate "room decor" that you can rent for an hour.

I would confirm their speed to your destination (go there and do a ping test).
If the latency isn't too bad then rent time in their business center or conference room and it is all done.
If they are too slow... look for another one (KT connections are typically the best for north America - SK routing is too slow.)
