| What ereaders are available here and where can they found? I bought an Iriver Story K but it lasted a week before the screen malfunctioned with some serious burn-in. |

| you can get most major ereaders on gmarket. i still stand by getting a kindle keyboard with worldwide 3g. cheap as chips for all you get even without the ad supported version, free 3g to check your email/etc. abroad, and the biggest bookstore by leaps and bounds. |

How much is that? The Iriver was only 100k, but it was good while it lasted. I am annoyed because I was halfway through Game of Thrones when the screen went crazy. |

Go Amazon Kindle! Will be shipped here no problem. Just be careful of customs limit keep 150,000 won or less if possible.
My Kindle 3G was broken and since it was under warrenty - Amazon shipped me a new one.
Maybe your Iriver can be fixed - find your local Iriver customer service center. |

I had a bad experience already with Iriver, so it was my fault for buying one of their products again. I returned it and got a refund instead. Besides, the Iriver here is linked to the Kyobo bookstore and it's all in Korean so buying books is quite difficult. I am thinking about the Nook Simple Touch because it can be rooted to run Android apps, but I heard they don't handle PDFs too well.
I have a lot of PDF files for my MA that I need to read, so I was wondering how well the Kindle handles them. |

| i have a kobo touch and i love it. i got it while i was home over christmas though. not sure if it's widely available here. not too pricey either, just about $130. |

I love my Kindle keyboard (no 3g), use it everyday. and yes they can be imported here no prob.
BUT, kindle is trash at .pdf. It breaks up the pages really weird. turning it landscape makes the pages more readable, but still has odd page breaks.
A related question. With the iriver / Kyobo link, do you know if Korean language books are readily available in digital format? I guess either through the Kyobo storefront or through a torrent site? I wanted to get my wife a kindle, but it just doesn't seem to have much in the way of Korean support. She's into popular fiction/nonfiction translated into Korean. |

I had the Barnes and Noble reader that was new last summer. It was all touch-screen. Loved it a lot, and it did PDF just fine.

If you can get it sent to you somehow, I highly recommend it. I did purchase a book with it internationally, but can't remember if I did so using a VPN to fake the IP so it looked like I was in California, or if it just worked. I only bought one book anyway, as there were so many torrents.
I would also say to look at the Amazon Kindle, but if you can have it just sent by someone, get the non-International one and your books will be about $2 cheaper per book if you buy from here. If you are torrenting, then get either. |

I am not certain but I think the Nook can not be shipped here legitimately. The Kindle can be.
The Kindle is not good at PDF. Destroyer you may want to consider using some cropping programs to help with readability. Using a crop program you can remove excess whitespace and margins.

On the page is a program called Briss I like it is simple and quick to use.
I have never tested any Korean ebooks. I do not think the Kindle supports Hangul text code/fonts - through some kindles have been hacked to support Korean fonts. So I think it would be possible to buy a kindle and then hack it and add Korean fonts (not language setting). She could then read pirated Korean ebooks.
As to downloading from legit Korean market places have not done too. I have looked at one and I think they are copy protected format either PDF or epub. |

| I ordered a Nook Simple Touch from gmarket. Cost me 171,000 including shipping and post from the States. Not cheap but I intend to root it straight away and install some Android PDF apps to maximize it's functionality. |

You will like it!
I didn't need to change it from stock. You will love the battery life.
PDF files run fine but you do not get chapters and stuff like that in menus. Just pages. Sometimes there are page breaks in odd places, but that is due to whomever created the file.
I was also able to fit it in the front of my pleated dockers without issue, although I am a bit big. |

I read that this model doesn't have landscape viewing, but it can be achieved using certain Android apps. Also, if rooted, the Nook can run the Android Amazon app so you can shop from the Amazon store. |
