I am due to depart to Incheon next Monday and I have a couple of questions (apologies if they have been asked already):

- Can anyone recommend a decent health centre to get vaccinations for
Japanese encephalitis and Rabbis?

-I have been asked to dress formal for my first day in public school, does this mean turning up in a suit or will a shirt, tie and black trouser do?

I haven�t been told where I will be working or living when I arrive in Incheon. I know I have 5 day orientation in Incheon and that I will be teaching in an elementary school somewhere in the city..

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated regardless of where a deceny health centre is situated in the city. I�ve run out of time to get all my vaccinations at home so I do need to get it sorted when I arrive in Incheon.

My [Japanese] encephalitis was two jabs a month apart and cost �160, I'm shipping out on Saturday. I'm taking a suit jacket but I'll not expect to wear it much at all.

have most people been vaccinated for Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies, or are you choosing to be extra precautious? I had read heard that neither of those were recommended too strongly unless you planned to work with animals or planned to spend a lot of time in rural areas, neither of which I do plan.
The only vaccines I've gotten are tetanus, diptheria, hep A and hep B.

also.. would many domestic cats/dogs over there be rabid? I do like to play with other people's pets, but I was sort of thinking more about wild animals when I decided not to get the rabies shot....

I've been here 15 years and have never heard of a domesticated animal or person getting rabies in Korea. Seriously??? Where do you think you're going? On top of that there aren't packs of wild dogs roaming the streets like you'd see in India. Sure there's the stray here and there and lots of feral cats but the only dog that has ever bitten me has been my own.

You shouldn't really have to worry about rabies. Some of your students may bite you, but chances are they won't be rabid.

For sure get your JE here, but I don't really think either that or a rabies shot is necessary. Travel clinics in the states and Canada are kind of ridiculous.. they just tell you to get the maximum number of shots possible.
