I may look into a public school position in a few months and would like to make myself look worthy for such a position.

As of now, i just have a BA, but would the following activities on my resume help?

For the past 2 years i have helped recent immigrants (university age students to people in their early 30s) with their English (on a 1v1 basis once or twice a week). Would this look good on my resume?

I have also been offered the opportunity to help teach a class in middle school (public school in toronto) once a week, but due to my schedule at that time, i had to decline. If i were to take this opportunity (given it is still available), how would this look on my resume?

any other tips on what i can do to make it evident that i would be a good choice for a teach position?

edit: i meet all requirements for an E2 (born, raised in canada with a degree from canada)

i think those things might help, but not enough to get more money. Also, the most important things are: do you have a degree? are you from one of the 7 english speaking countries?

i am not in this for money, rather, the experience and something new in life. and i meet all requirements, born and raised in toronto, canada.

i know it wont be that easy to get a PS jobs, especially one that isnt in the "boonies", so i need some ways to make myself more competitive.

Want a PS position, get a TEFL cert (soon to be (happening now in tight markets) a requirement for PS positions).

If I have a TEFL cert and a couple months of adult teaching experience, is it reasonable to expect more than 2.1M/m?

I've been offered a job with a large hagwon organization, but they're absolutely refusing to budge on salary, and between the split shifts and maybe having to shell out 200k/m from my salary for housing it might be the tipping point.

No. 2.1 ~ 2.3 is the going rate for these positions, the latter being the ceiling for those with more experience than you.

You are thinking in terms of western values.
If you want to be competitive:
make yourself look beautiful and smell nice
-so that you look great in photos and videos
-so that self-confidence exudes through your pores
-beauty is in the attitude, learn the 'move's
See through eastern eyes:
'noble savage' or 'wild man' look may work in the west, NOT HERE.
'smiling and friendly' may work in the west, hardly matters here.
If beautification is beneath your dignity, tough luck. It's a character flaw.

Make a video of you teaching them in Toronto: that's a competitive advantage.

It's pretty funny that you're giving the OP good advice about image being important in Asia while your user info says you live in a Goshiwon.

Unless you have a nice big apartment (which you own) that is just too loud with your wife and two sons in it, forcing you to seek refuge in a goshiwon where you prepare for your MD / MBA / law degree.
