| I just got my F-5 visa last week. It took just under a month for them to approve my application. I got a new ARC that says 영구 (permanent) on the back, as well as a sticker in my passport. I never have to go back to the immigration office again... happy days. |
Congratulations! I also have an F-5, but I had to get mine the hard way... |

That's great. I hope to get an F5A like that as well, but have to stack up a couple more years on my ARC. |

Just wanted to post this, for the record, in case anyone else needs the data. While I'm also a professional, I'm not a teacher. I'm an engineer, and on a D-8 visa. I was considering applying for this F5A visa, until I learned one key point. Whereas the financial requirements for the E-series visas aren't that onerous (3x average Korean income), if you want to get the F5A whilst holding a D-8, you have to have more than $300K here in Korea, and employ 3 Koreans in your company! (or perhaps it is $500K and 5 employees, I'm not clear). Anyway, quite a big difference those requirements. I would be curious what the logic is, but I know better than to assume logic is even involved in immigration rules!
On the other hand, it looks like my residency requirements to get the F2-99 visa may be a little less strict (though 7 years vs. 5 years) coming at it from a non-E-series visa... |
