marry her before 3 months.

Most viable option in this thread so far.

I changed my mind. I will just come over and work illegally. I think it will be worth it just to make life that much more difficult for those of you who insist I'm trying to work illegally and that my case is hopeless. Did someone say "prison?" You mean I can have free food and a place to stay while in Korea? You may have solved my problems for me!

Really now, if you cannot see beyond the confines of your own individual worlds and even imagine that there is a possibility for me, then I ask you to please stop reading this topic. After all, I am asking for legal options for me. If you cannot think of any then what are you even doing wasting your time telling nothing that helps. I get it. You think/know I don't have a chance. If that is what is on your mind then logically speaking I'm not going to listen to it because it doesn't help me and you are not going to listen to me because I'm not listening to you. Or if you really are having that good a time then let's keep this going. You keep ignoring me and I'll return the favor.

You need to be a specialist...I knew a french glasses maker without a degree.

There is also a program for rural schools (TALK) thats pays crap and only requires an associates degree....I wouldn't recommend it.

Honestly, you'd be better off coming as a college student. They'll pretty much accept anyone at some third rate universities with tons of scholarships if your a foreigner. You can tutor on the side. Classes are pretty easy at some.

These are your Legal options:

* Student - Study and work part time.
* 3D - Minimum wage, 10 hour days.
* Special Skill - If you can do something most other can't.
* Be Korean or marry a Korean.

In the current world economy there are limited or no easy options, plus people are going to keep them quiet otherwise everyone is going to do it. If you want to teach scuba diving, sailing or similar I would suggest Thailand or another east Asian country.
If your heart is set on English teaching then China is worth taking a look at.

Farron T,

Its been said a few different ways already but lets repeat: you cannot work legally in Korea.

You do not qualify for any of the work visas that would entitle you to work legally (ttom showed you this).

You can ask the same question over and over but it will not change the reality, sorry.

If you want to come to Korea anyway, you will have to work illegally on a 90 day tourist visa (Thats what Americans get unless its changed). You will need to come in on a 2-way ticket otherwise you will not be allowed into the country. You will then need to exit Korea every 90 days to reniew your tourist visa. You can run this cycle until you get busted, fined and deported as centralcali said.

Also of note, as an illegal worker you will have NO protection, no provided housing, no medical insurance (so here is hoping you do not get sick or hurt pal).

You will also have no access to banking in Korea as tourists cannot open bank accounts.

The list goes on and all this says is that going to Korea is a bad plan for you. If you really want to go, find a work field that is hiring and get qualified so you can work legally.

Finally this is NOT about people not seeing "beyond the confines of your own individual worlds and even imagine that there is a possibility for you". That has nothing to do with it!

You asked questions and you got FACTUAL answers based in reality. You seem to not want to hear these answers and insist there must be another way when lots of experienced people told you THERE IS NO OTHER LEGAL WAY.

Actually, it has everything to do with it. The thing is, "people" is really Farron T. He's the one refusing to see beyond what he wants to see, refusing to listen beyond what he wants to hear.

And, thanks to his comment above about how wonderful prison life is, I hope he discovers the truth about that here also.

I was actually saying the issue was with Farron T not wanting to hear the answers he gets....

I feel for you. It's tough getting shut down on what you thought was a viable option in life. Maybe you don't have the means to go to college and that is lamentable. It seems you are articulate enough; you write better than many here, so I don't think you are a total idiot.

However, it is time to face facts. You have been offered options in this thread, and that is what you claim you were after. You have also lashed out at those who said what you knew or didn't want to hear; that a lack of education was going to be a big problem. You cannot blame people for taking issue with your implied notion of working illegally because we have had all manner of crazy things thrown at us by the Korean government for people doing just that. So, blaming people for a certain level of protecting their interests is not right.

Instead of lashing out (and this goes for me too, as well as the other posters in this thread), it is time to take stock and back off. You have some options and we have had our time protecting ourselves from potentialities. If you come and engage in illegal practices, there is a good chance of getting caught; this isn't the wild west anymore. If you gain legal employment, then good for you and please post back and do some gloating. We may deserve that.

Nobody wishes you ill, but at the same time, have some respect for the battles that we fight here. I and many others have been here for a heck of a long time and have had to overcome many obstacles, many of which have arisen from people engaging in one illegal activity or another. This isn't America and it would serve you well to try and understand where our opinions and beliefs are coming from. Likewise, we should understand that times are tough in other places and people are looking to get out of Dodge. There are limitations on both sides and I think this thread has brought all of them to light.

Whatever you choose, good luck. Nobody here wants you to fail in anything, but we also don't need another catalyst for the Korean authorities to create yet another hoop to jump through.

Thank you for a reasonable post [/seriously]. I really, really do not want to sound arrogant with what I'm about to say next, but I really didn't ever feel "shut down." I'm a man on mission and things that are said to attempt to bring me down, I will not allow to affect me. I have said it numerous times during this topic and I will say it again. I am seeking legal options for me. And there are! Its not anywhere in this topic but I have been getting PM's about using my diving skills to get me into Korea. The student route also didn't seem very good for me at first but the more I thought about it the more I realized it could work. The lashing out you are referring to it very understandable. I want to come to Korea but people tell me no and try to shut me down. Of course, I'm not going to listen. Well, I will listen in the logic and reasons of their posts, but I'm not going to process the hate the lay in their words. My lashing out comes because I keep saying that I want to find a legal way and people automatically jump to the conclusion that there is nothing for me and I will have to work illegally. I can, however, understand their fear of having a more difficult life due to others that do the illegal things they are talking about. Please, please, please do not categorize me with them anymore. If I was anything like them then this topic would have been titled: Anyone know any good illegal jobs? lol

Fair enough.

Keep us posted on how it works out either way and best of luck.

Sorry that meant legal way to teach. Should have specified.

Now you want to come over as a student...cool...but the student visa is very restrictive in terms of what you can do outside of studying.

3D? I strongly suggest you look into what those jobs are, how much they pay and if you could even get such a visa (I doubt it)

Special Skills - If you have in demand skills (ie you are a professionalin a specific field) then go for it, apply with companies that hire foreign professionals and you will be godo to go if you have the quals.

If you are Korean then this entire thread was a colossal waste of time. I do not think you are married to a Korean so thats a moot point. If you are married to a Korean you can possibly get a F-visa (residency visa) but would still need qualifications to work in teaching or other fields.

Again, this is not some us vs you! It is us giving you the facts. I understand the facts may be depressing considering your desire to go to Korea but they remain what they are!

Finally, I do not think anyone wants to prevent you from going to Korea and I for one hope you find a way. If its through your diving, then good for you!

Best of luck.
