Contrary to their ads, Pizza School and Pizza Maru use fake, imitation cheese. The fact they use them isn't the issue. It's the fact they advertise 100% real cheese. |

I passed a few Pizza Schools on the way to work this morning. They still have their "100% real cheese" posters up in the windows.
Personally, I'm a fan of redcap pizza. Certainly not cheap, and I have
no idea what their cheese really is. |

Of course it's fake. It has the consistency of wet construction paper. |

It was all over the radio last night. Probably will see the newspaper articles today or tomorrow.
The "fake cheese" is made mostly from vegetable oil.
Which brings up another point. No one cares if the fake cheese is on a burger, but if its on a pizza then its a big no-no.
I think a pizza school pizza has as much fake cheese as your typical Grilled Cheese sandwich. |

Hahaha!
Pizza School cheese might be vegan. That's always good for us vegetarians that prefer vegan food or actual vegans... |

Yeah, I worked for one of their competitors here in Korea, and the issue of cheese costs seemed to be what everyone in the office was focused on.
How can places like that use actual cheese and still keep costs so low?? |
