Hello!

I'm expecting to get my Visa Issuance Number soon, so I was looking into what I needed to bring to the Korean Consulate in Atlanta so I can get my visa.

I saw this page: http://usa-atlanta.mofat.go.kr/english/am/usa-atlanta/visa/issuance/index.jsp

I am slightly confused as the requirements for E-2 seem to be mostly documents I have already sent to my employer in Korea. Will I need them again for application on the US end? (I certainly hope not, because I don't have copies of some of them).

Are you starting public school on the 1st of March? I am and I'm STILL waiting on my visa issuance number. It's making me nervous :\

This is what it says on the Atlanta consulate website:

If you don't need to come in for an interview
One official sealed transcript OR a notarized copy of your diploma
Visa confirmation number
Copy of employment contract (does not need to be signed by the employer)
Visa Application
Consul Checklist *
Health Statement *
One Passport-size Photo
Valid Passport
Visa Fee
Resume detailing your work/teaching experience including all experience in Korea
Please e-mail: [email protected] to request these forms if you do not have them

If you do need to come in for an interview:

Original Notice of Appointment (copies will not be accepted)
Notarized copy of diploma OR official transcripts

I realize that both of those say the exact same thing... I have no idea why they posted them separately.

The only thing on there that that you are at risk for not having that you can't easily print off of the internet is your transcripts or copy of diploma... in which cause just call your university and have them expedite one to you or go pick it up yourself.

I'm gonna be working for a hagwon starting March 1st. In my case, I really didn't think I'd make it in time for March 1st so I'm just thankful I'm actually at the stage wherein I'm waiting for a Visa Issuance Number.

The transcript is a bit of a problem, as I went to school in California, not here.

One of the sources of my confusion is that the HR person at my employer didn't tell me that I needed duplicates of these documents, and even her most recent email said nothing about most of the document requirements. All she said I needed was my passport, application form and picture. I imagine she's not exactly the authority but all day I've been having some difficulty reaching the Visa Department at the consulate.

All I've ever needed is my passport (and a copy of my passport), passport photos (they've asked for both one and two in the past, so I always take two to be on the safe side), and an application form.

I just went to the Korean Consulate in Chicago Yesterday. Here is what they required of me.
Original Contract
Original Notice of Appointment (copies will not be accepted)
Visa Application
One passport size photov
Valid Passport
Visa Fee
No more than that. I was in and out of there in 30 minutes, no interview needed. However, my recruiter told me that every consulate is different. I ended up calling the Chicago consulate to get more detail than they provided on their particular website. I recommend you do the same. I am going in with EPIK though, so if you are doing Hagwon then it may be different for you. If you are going in for March 1st, GET THERE NOW. Cause it takes 5 days to process the visa, at least at the consulate I went to.
