The foreign language center at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies probably ranks as the worst. I worked there a couple years back and it was the worst employment experience I've had in Korea (or anywhere for that matter). Just a dreadful place to work. Check for yourself. Do a search on this (or any other) ESL site. You will find consistently negative feedback about the place from disgruntled teachers. |

I had a friend who was teaching there and the worst student in his class who rarely showed up and constantly said he wasn't happy because he couldn't watch his Doosan Bears play baseball (that's apparently why he wasn't showing up) during class complained about him and guess who got canned - yes, the teacher.
In my opinion, HUFS doesn't care about foreign teachers at all. |

Spot on!
Details would be nice. Take any Uni and it will be considered horrible for another (too far away from city) to good (students are not the best but want to learn...). Where in the job search process are you. What are your prospects or leads you have.
Also your post translates into two things for me...
1. Please do my work for me. I am too lazy to do some research.
2. Can somebody give me some leads and hints to search.

Here's a hint: If you're working for a hogwon now, pretty much any uni job will be better. |

I think, although it would.be considered an average uni job, I am fortunate to be where I am. Good people work with me. Sure we do not have the top students in Seoul, but they are kind and many try hard, making progress.
The biggest perks of my job are the office, which I have to myself, and is as large as a small officetel. They provided a desk/furniture, and it has a sink. With the shower one floor below, I could almost live there. It makes office hours easier.
Another perk is pay. Average for starters but been here since 2005, and salary goes up yearly. Do the math. I have no plans to leave. |

^And the name of the university is...? The OP, after all, was asking for the names of universities that are good / bad to work at. Simply saying you've a good job takes the thread nowhere.

Unfortunately, this is not necessarily the case. I have worked at hogwans, and I thought getting a 'uni' job was a big step up. In many cases it can be, but in the case of the institution I mentioned above, it was actually a step down. 'Unigwons' are everywhere in Korea now, and the conditions suck. After I left my university I went back to a hogwan. To be honest, I was happier teaching children there than at my university. There are a lot of crap uni jobs in Korea. I, unfortunately, worked at one such place - HUFS. I wouldn't recommend the place to my worst enemy. Others will have better experiences at other universities....But not all of them are good jobs. |

Google will show you a few different rankings and no better or worse than any list that will be complied here.

Academic rankings don't necessarily correlate very well with how good of an employer they are. |

Some kind soul made a thread about the ranking of the top universities to work for in Korea. It would be cool if someone made a list of the bottom ten or twenty universities / unigwons so people know which to avoid. It's hiring season and we can't be too careful. |
