In short, I re-signed last May and renewed my visa without any problems. When the MOE asked for a copy of my documents I went to immigration and got them.

My background check was only for state-wide as that was the requirement when I got my original visa in 2010. Immigration had no problem renewing my visa in 2011. Now the MOE wants a FBI background check for me. My boss knows it would be impossible to get it before I leave, he is still asking me for it. It seems as if the MOE wants it regardless if I am even in the country or not.

When I got my original visa, I had sent over my original diploma so I didn't need to get it notarized or apostilled. They are now asking my boss for an apostilled copy of my diploma.

I leave in 3 months and don't plan on coming back. My boss is asking me to send over my fingerprints and diploma tomorrow and will pay for it. However, it would just be a hassle for my family to complete these things for me. What would you do?

Have you actually stood in front of "MOE" and explained the situation? Passing notes back and forth is not what you want to do if you don't want to do things by the book.

Go in person and talk to them. Let them know it is impossible to get now and obviously unnecessary for immigration.

I think the FBI background check takes anywhere from 3-4 months due to the backlog. It really is pointless to get one now but if it'll make your boss happy and they are willing to pay for it I'd say you might as well do it.

SNIP

Smile. Nod. Ignore. Proceed

Simply tell your boss that you have applied and that it will come in 3-4 months. If he asks assure him that there is NO way it can come any sooner. Then finish your contract and leave.

No sense in bothering and spending all that time and money if you are not coming back.

There are bureaucratic loopholes around handing in the CBC. I know a girl that actually got hers, but there was an assault charge from an ex girlfriend, so MOE is still waiting for it in the mail.....

If you really want to quiet down your boss. print out the fingerprint form from the FBI website. find some ink (it really won't matter what color if you are out of here in 3 months) and take your own fingerprints. Send them into the FBI with a check made out to them for $18. Show your boss a copy of the check, of the fingerprint form, and of the receipt of postage.

Immigration or MOE should have a special document swearing that you ordered the 'correct documents' and are awaiting arrival. Sign the special document and you are set.
