KEB's online overseas transfers aren't working anymore. What a mess! When it went to verify my "digital certificate" it couldn't and I had to ctrl-alt-delete the window. Is the digital certificate a government necessity? And why do we need special anti-virus/malware programs?

I emailed the bank to tell them to try to make their online banking better and more secure. They wrote bank thanking me form my input and they hope they will make it better for expats. Their CEO is non-Korean and wants to make the bank work well for us.

I emailed this address [email protected] and got a polite email back. I think anyone with more knowledge of internet security write to them and we MIGHT help make OUR bank better. This is the only bank in Korea that wants middle-class foreigners' as part of their bank. It can't hurt to tell them how we feel.

It worked for me this morning. Try uninstalling the software through Add/Remove programs and then re-installing it.

I am trying to use KEB on my macbook pro with Firefox but it's harder than a priest at a kindergarten. When I click on personal banking it prompts me to download a program. When I save it and try to open it there is just a note with lot's of nonsensical writing.
What am I doing wrong?

Always disable your anti virus and firewall before going to internet banking in korea. They install their own firewall . If you do not disable your pc firewall you get into trouble.

I've never had to disable my own anti-virus or firewall to use KEB internet banking. Nor, would I recommend that people do.

I would never trust a Korean personal firewall to solely protect my computer. Is it an actual firewall they install? I call it a piece of obtrusive unrated piece of software crap.

The only trouble I would find is unwelcome spyware.

I do all my banking in a VMWare image. The banks can install as much crapware as they want and it's isolated from the rest of my system. If it every stops working I can just restore from backup.

Hey I was trying to make a image to try that but the KEB keyboard logger kept crashing my prog/image. I forget which virtualization prog IO was trying. If you can can you provide by message or here how you made your VMware image.

Maybe in the next 8 years when the newest games aren't playable on Windows XP, we will see a shift in the Korean coding paradigm.

Its not surprising that Korea keeps patting itself on the back as a "technologically advanced country". They won't change until Cameroon starts exporting IT talent to the US & Europe.

Seriously- I AM surprised that all Korean banks have iPhone apps. Is it laziness or stupidity that prevents them from making an app (or secure website) for Linux/Mac users?
