I suppose I'm an average pool player. I've been playing since high school on and off, not too consistently though. I make in probably 50 to 60 percent of my attempted shots.

I've been living in Korea for 3 years and I've only been to the pool rooms a handful of times. At first I didn't care for them because they weren't pub-like pool halls that I'm used to in the west. But now, I kind of like the idea of playing pool sober and really for the game of it and not for the pub-like social atmosphere.

Anyway, I'm looking for like-minded people to meet up with once a week or so to play a few hours of pool. Either someone at my skill level, or with better skills that I can learn from.

Send me a private message if you're interested.

If you'd said Suwon, you'd have a practice partner in a flash ^^

My tip for getting better at pool is to go play by yourself for 20-30 minutes a day and practice one specific shot every day.

For example you might practice your draw on shots with a slight cut. Put a business card where you want the whiteball to end up and repeat the same shot until you can get it 5 times in a row. Repetition is key.

If you wanna get good in a hurry, I'd recommend Old Town on the hill.

Nashville in itaewon is a rarew bar with more than one pool table too. Plenty of game playeyrs all night.

That said, just playing wont make a big difference in your game, like woot said you need to practice specific shots etc.

Itaewon has pool leagues, so joining them could help. I hung out with a really good palyer for a while and he taught me some good tips on how to bank better and screw back etc, so surrounding yourself with better players helps a lot as like me you probably find the idea of just going by yourself to practice shots kind of dull.

yeah, you do need help. Laughing
join the itaewon pool league. I mean to get good, is to practice practice practice. and of course challenge yourself, player people better than you.
but pool is not only about smashing balls into the pocket. it's strategy.
you need to practice scenario shots, angles, banks, spins,
some people can play pool all their life and never get better because they don't actually try practicing, they just play.

Where's Nashville and what's a rarew bar?

I reckon you made a typo but can't figure out what you were trying to say.

(i.e. I'm not being smart)

Yeah that's the one. I meant it is a rare bar in that there is more than one table and there are people there who want to play all night, so you're never short of a game. They banned smoking though so I refuse to frequent any more.

Thanks for all the tips ... Cool

50-60% would be a bad game... 80-90% in a good game ... 40% would be a drunk game Laughing

I know little about strategy ... My strategy goes only as far as planning my next two shots whenever I'm attempting any shot. I've also read a few books I actually used to work in the billiards industry for a few years so I probably know more about the game than what my playing shows for it.

But you guys are right, spending a good amount of time practicing shots alone makes a lot of sense than just playing games.

Re: Old Town, I was just there the other night which was kind of what made me post this in the first place.

The last time I went there just before Christmas there was only one table? It was the 1st floor place, are there multiple tables upstairs?

I find about 5 shots of JD and 5 beers really augments the level of my game.

Ha ha, no what actually happens is that means I've had 5 shots and 5 beers too so my game goes down and your's stays the same.

So Nashville's only has ONE table now? Last time I went there they had two, which was probably around Sept last year.
