Im posting this for a friend, they want to make sure expats are aware of the event. I put it in the "job-related" forom because I figure it should have some stuff related to EFL.

TEDxIGSELive is the event built around the live webcast of TED2012 conference.
TED is held once a year in the US,
and TEDxIGSELive is one of the fastest ways to watch this year's TED in Korea.
It is going to be held on March 1st, from 10 a.m., at IGSE LC.
There are four sessions of TED talks.
Refer to the attached poster for detailed schedule.

If you love TED, come and share ideas from TED.
There is no entrance fee, and please bring your own snacks.
You can register to attend by pressing "attend" button below.

Thank you.

I'm sorry to be dumb, but what is TED? I've read about it, and know it's some sort of conference, but of what words is it the acronym?

Thank you.

No worries moonduck. I'll give you a brief explanation but after that you'll have to do some Google and youtube legwork. TED = Technology, Education and Design. Basically it's an organisation that puts on 18 minute talks. The organisation believes that ideas themselves can change the word and they provide a platform for those ideas to reach as wide an audience as possible. To do this they network extensively so that the speakers and attendees to speaking events are all movers and shakers working on big ideas. They come from all walks of life and what qualifies someone for the organisation appears to be deliberately broad so as to be as inclusive as possible of new ideas.

They have a youtube channel called "TEDtalksdirector", I'd recommend Salman Khan's talk and Hans Roslings' (his are always awesome). But there's something for everyone and they have so many amazing subjects.

Oh, and I posted this to a FB group and one of my members noted that this is just a relay event or some such, so no live speakers Sad
