@CC

It did not make the news, even allkpop.com seems to have missed it.

They are instead reporting on another group of dumb@$$es, Block-B

Something about this seems off - other than the racist content. For some reason, I don't think she wrote it. Something about the style of writing, vocabulary, etc makes me think a man wrote it. It has the same feel as some of the crap you would find in Korean Sentry, where people have spent a lot of time thinking about these things.

If it were that simple cj, there would have been a formal retraction and not two spoof "apology" letters.

Here I am at a Mcdonalds in Australia sipping on my iced coffee while reading the twitter comments. I literally spit out my drink lol.

None of you found the entire thing hilarious? I don't even care if the whole thing was a set-up lol

She already has sympathy just for dropping "mental illness".

Now, this is something that's befuddling me. Korea isn't exactly known for its kind treatment and consideration of those with any kind of mental illness. Yet, here is someone touting that as the reason for unseemly behavior and it's a ploy for sensitivity towards that person?

The other thing is the whole "want to be Black but don't like Blacks" thing going on, but that's a whole 'nuther story.

As I said above, befuddling.

What does it matter what some crazy woman said on twitter? She wrote a couple songs. Big Deal. My work is displayed all over the world from Mexico to Russia. Am I going to be important and a spokesperson for an entire demographic if I go on a racist rant on twitter?

No one outside of the Korean music industry knew who the hell this woman was a week ago. What makes her different than the ranting adjosshi on the subway spewing racist comments?

I think her rant is not newsworthy. She is a nobody.

She would be a nobody if she hadn't written songs for Girls Generation..even then it probably wouldn't have warranted much attention if it weren't for the fact that GG just appeared on Letterman and are in the midst of trying to make it in the US...tough beans, SM entertainment, GG may not get much love from the US industry in the near future, 'specially considering that many of the key players in the plot are brothers, including Teddy Riley...

You've missed Pkang's point. She wrote 1.5 songs for SNSD out of the dozen albums they released. She's a nobody who has blogged about her mental illness for years. You might as well go complain about the crazy guy proclaiming the world is going to end or insult the guy in the wheelchair for taking a handicapped space.

From her blog:

August 2011:

"Since I was 20 yrs. old I have tried virtually every psychiatric medication under the sun. I was beginning to lose hope in finding treatment for whatever it is thats wrong with my brain. Im taking 2 medications that are helping me so much to the point that Ive normalized almost completely now that Ive been on these meds for a few months. Although Ive fallen short on advocating psychiatric medications. Some people are easier to treat with meds than others, and theres always a high chance of the medications making you worse than before. That actually happened to me which is why I avoided taking meds for this long."

And from September 2011:

"The problem with my illnesses is that they cannot be cured, only treated. Every day is a battle with my brain, which works against me often. But I see myself improving all the time, and Im just glad Im going in the right direction.

It has been about a year since my mental breakdown. Its hard for me to believe that the person who was bringing me down was myself. I became my own worst enemy, and everything around me, including my sense of self, was crashing down."

I disagree. The impact from her rant is negligible at best. She wrote the song. She's not their manager, not part of SM, and not part of the group. She is basically a contract worker who was contracted to write a song for them.

She's a nobody. Her only claim to fame is that she wrote a song for GG. Big deal. I think you are giving song writers more credit than they deserve. Doyou know Britney Spear's song writer? Do you know any POP singer's song writers?

Do you know how I know she's a nobody? She would not get any special treatment in any club or restaurant in Korea by saying "I wrote that song". At most some ajumma will give her extra potatoes in her Gamjatang.

Yeah, WE know she ain't nuthin' but extra potatoes girl (damn that's cold, but probably true), just sayin' the brothers will probably take it another way...if ya spin it around and had a Beyonce songwriter sayin' "eradicate all Koreans, those damn sidewalk spittin', scooter yahoo gooks", u probably understand what I'm getting at

I get your point. However, where that songwriter will probably never find work again, it wouldn't impact GG. GG is not famous enough to where people would care.

Yeah...but don't you think that any fame GG might have had in the US is now going to be tainted and linked to racism?
People will do the old...GG? hmm...something about Korean girls, racism and blacks rings a bell.

I can only imagine the members of GG must be pissed.
People never forget this kind of thing...it's haunting by nature.

No one I know outside of Korea has mentioned or tweeted anything about that chick. So, my guess is there is no tainted fame or links to racism.
