How do the electric blankets work, and do they consume a lot of electricity? I thought of getting one, and I looked once and didn't see it. I don't need it anymore, but if I'm here this coming winter I'll want one to avoid the huge bills I received. One reason it happened was I didn't know how to use the heating system. The landlord didn't, either. I got screwed as a result. I may move next year. |

| i wont be moaning about my 77000won bill anymore - the highest one i had last winter was 91000 and i am no longer worrying having had read that. I think the splitting of the bills is more common in older places - as I am in a brand new villa building and i for sure have my own meter - i also checked my neighbours' bills in the mailboxes (cheeky i know) and some of the bills are 130000 and some were like 40000 - thinking of my usage it probably is in the middle of the usage. However I have just been getting under my bedding and sticking sweaters on and seeing if that gets it down - I just use the out of home setting to stop the pipes freezing...PLUS i do like my long showers (30mins+ during hols and weekends), so I guess that is where the money goes! |

| I do live in the Jugong Apartments right now, so I guess that explains even more. I'm happy that the bill drastically drops though. I don't think there'd be too much money saving if the bill was like that every month |

You really have nothing to complain about. I live in a newer villa building now and run the same range as you for gas bill. But I lived in older buildings and paid a ridiculous amount before. Old uninsulated buildings are expensive because they use to be poorly built. |

23 or 24 degrees? Really? Maybe your thermostat is off. I'm very skinny these days 125-130 pounds (Korean diet hasn't been too good to me lol) and I find things are quite comfortable around 19 or 20 degrees. I have a two bedroom apt and I think the highest bill I've ever gotten was 150 bucks and that was last winter when temps were much colder.
I think comfort is worth more than money, but if you don't like paying such high bills you might want to dial that thermostat back. |
