|
|
I live south of Seoul. It seems like native Koreans are as ignorant of this information as foreigners. I often go to 홍대 area for live music. But I rarely know when the last train will run to a station from which I can take a bus (possibly a last bus) So I usually leave pretty early (before 11pm). The 홍대 station is on the number 2 line, and many trains that run on it end at different stations. Does anyone know when is the last train to 사당? Or when is the last line 1 train from 신도림 to 금정? |

Lots of the stations have the times listed on a big chart. It will tell you the latest time you can leave that station to arrive at the end of a particular line.
For example, line 1 heading south ends at Sinchang/Cheonan/Byeongjeom. If you're on say, line 3 at Apgujeong, it will have a chart that tells you the latest time you can leave Apgujeong and catch the last train on line 1 heading south for those particular stations.
I KNOW I've seen these posters/signs in Hongdae before. Look for a big chart that has every line listed, and beneath it, a list of first/last trains, as well as transfer stations. They are on the safety screens that separate the platform and track.
EDIT - Let me add a bit. What Hiromi points out is useful, BUT ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHEN THE LAST TRAIN TO GEUMJEONG IS. The last train to Sadang might be 12:27, but if you arrive AFTER the last line 4 train south, then it's useless to you. That's what the posters I mentioned tell you - the last train you can take to catch the last train on the other lines that will get you home. |

The last train from 신도림 to 금정 is 23:36 to hit that transfer you have to catch the 23:16 train leaving 홍대입구.
According to my Jihachul app... Info is for Saturday, may or may not be the same on weekdays.

Do you have an iTouch or a smart phone? If so, you can get apps with the whole schedule included. |

The Jihachul app runs on the iPod and iPhone.
It includes entire time schedules for each station as well as which car and door provides the most efficient transfer. You can enter your desired arrival time and it will tell you which train you have to catch. It also has last train info.
Good app.

I like this program, thanks for the link.
But how did you determine the 00:27 time? According to the timetable program, that's too late for both weeknights and Saturdays. |

Yeah, this is a good point of course. Although, usually, the Seoul (blue) buses that pass through the 'satellite' cities run pretty late (departing from their origin after midnight). So assuming a weeknight, if I really wanted to stay as late as possible, I could take a midnight line 2 train to 시청 (Seoul City Hall) and then a bus south. |
