I ran across this video on Youtube titled Korean Priest vs. Korean Police.

Here's the link.

Pretty crazy video. I'm wondering if any Koreaphiles can educate me on what this was all about? What Buddhist order etc??

I'm also curious about any thoughts on the protests against massive demolishing of buildings ie. the Yongsan protest. I even found recently a Korean anarchist group whose main focus seemed to be against demolition of an older building that made up their community.

It's an interesting layer of Korean culture or I guess counter culture more accurately.

I was bored last week and walked around the Yongsan area and see where they're tearing down a whole neighborhood. The side of the buildings that face the Electronics market or center street there has more interesting architecture there than many places - a semblance of character in a country that seems in a race to replace anything interesting with the latest bland grain silo style complex. The dehumanized landscape here ought to be considered one source of the county's depression IMHO. Are the protests related?

Did not watch the video. But recent history with yongsan was some protests over some redevelopment of the area.
