I am being let out of my contract a month early. My ARC card goes until the beginning of April.
If I want to travel around Korea for 2 week in early March, do I need to get an extension?
My concern is if my school cancels my VISA i.e. doesn't want to be responsible for me when I'm finished, that I'll be here illegally and have to pay fines when I leave.
Any knowledge on this issue?
p.s. Anyone know why hikorea's e-applications NEVER work? |

Did you use Internet Explorer as your browser AND do you see a blue icon with a letter K on your taskbar while you access HiKorea? Browser/configuration sensitivity is critical when dealing with Korean websites for 'serious business', no matter how technologically backward and pathetic it may sound to some tech-savvy people out there. |

Not going to deal with your tech issue but I can answer your immigration query.
You are required by law to report a material change in your status (unemployment) to immigration within 14 days of the change (last day of work).
If you leave Korea within said 14 days then there is no potential issue and no report is necessary.
If you plan to stay longer than 14 days you need to report to immigration that you are unemployed. You will then have 30 days from your last date of employment to leave without worrying about your old employer.
Your options, if you think you may want to stay and work again, would be to:
i) get a new job within 30 days of your last day of work or
ii) switch to a D10 (looking for work visa). The D10 will give you up to 6 months to find a new job and switch back to an E2 or go home (your choice).
