I am looking for some Vibram 5 finger shoes. And about the only place i can find hem is ONE store in Gangnam. And of course, they have the worst hours and aren't open on weekends. Is there some place I am missing? I could order from the internet. But I'd like to try them on before I buy.

Thanks much.

I'm sorry I cannot help you specifically with Vibrams, but Merrell has a large collection of running shoes that use the Vibram's sole/technology, but don't make you look like a tool. I see a large number of Merrell stores in Korea, so I think it's worth a look.

Merrell has quite an extensive line of barefoot runners...something meant to give you the feel of going barefoot while still being presentable to the public.

There's a shoe shop in Itaewon that sells Vibrams. I don't know what it's called (I have a pair already, so I wasn't really paying attention), but it's on the opposite side of the Hamilton Hotel, somewhere between the Baskin Robbins and Starbucks (the newer one, closest to Noksapyeong station).

Yeah, but Merrell's barefoot shoes run pretty narrow.

Yes, and it's not just their barefoot shoes that have that problem.

I go hiking a lot and my Merrells are by far the worst I've ever owned. They are very low volume (very tight toe box) and their shoe laces are too long and always come undone. Sure, I could do a double knot, but that's a pain in the butt too since feet will swell up during the day (another reason why I hate the fit of the Merrells).

So, if you have very low volume feet and don't plan on hiking for more than a couple of hours, then the Merrells are probably okay...Just make sure to invest in a new pair of laces.

For those of you who are serious hikers, get yourself some some Salewa Alp Trainer Mid GTX. Simply amazing. They really are as good as they say. They are well worth the price.

I ordered Vibrams online and using their sizing system, the fit was perfect. Of course it's better if you can actually try them on, but if you get someone to help you and follow the directions on the website exactly, you can get an accurate size.

Also, read up online about how the different styles fit. That was a big help for me.

And I know Vibrams look douchy. But when I'm hiking or running along the river they rock, and generally everyone around me manages to look much douchier without the help of Vibrams.

That only works if the laces don't suck.

I use a variety of advanced lacing techniques for my boots (most of which are almost unnecessary with the Salewa Alp Trainers since they have a heel lock system):

But, if you want to know about lacing shoes, this is the ultimate source:

And if you're not as serious a hiker as some of these posters, and you're not hell bent on spending 200 bucks on a pair of Salewa Alp Trainer Mid GTX shoes as previously recommended; you can try these for a 100 bucks.

Sure, why not. In my experience, they are more comfortable than Merrells (I'd recommend the high-tops if you don't want pebbles and pine needles in your shoes).

I ordered a pair of Five Fingers from this website -> http://www.fivefingerskorea.com/shop/main/index.php?&

They were delivered within two days. They are much more expensive on this website. Hope this helps.

As I mentioned in the first post, there are companies that use the exact same Vibrams technology but don't make you look like...whatever

Holy crap, 225,000 won for a pair of Vibrams!? I hope for that price a Korean idol hand delivers them and makes sure they fit right.

I really don't get Vibrams. They are racing flats. But, as an avid runner, I know we as a group can be highly susceptible to fads. I have a few pieces of compression gear to prove it.
