Epic lulz. Also for "I'm wearing John Galliano but the socks are from Kmart" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhAg0COnqds (complete footage)
So great to have an authentically entertaining moment in the Academy borefest. |

I think he was in on it. It was a well orchestrated stunt. Don't forget, Ryan Seacrest is not only a host, he's also in the business of improving celebrities' image (watch the reality shows he produces if you don't know what I mean). |

I doubt it. Not only does the Reuters report indicate otherwise http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/27/idUS300867235720120227, but also there's no more reason to suspect this being staged than any of Cohen's other stuff is. Getting an authentic spontaneous reaction from his victim is the key ingredient to the effectiveness of his gags. Besides, Seacrest was visibly pissed and I don't think he's enough of an actor to have played the role convincingly. |

Yeah, and I don't blame him - it was a dick move on Cohen's part. I read on some other boards that it was ok because Seacrest is an inane twit, but that does not justify it.
For the record I think a lot of the people he makes look bad do deserve it(for example, the racists and rednecks in Borat), but Cohen gets most of them to do it to themselves anyway. |

Huh. I followed the link and watched the vid, but I couldn't see anything very humorous nor did I see Seacrest visibly pissed. |

Yes, I've considered that too. If Seacrest wasn't in on it, then I think he was targeted because Cohen knew he'd get lots of press out of it, and the odds of him smacking him one are pretty low since he's too much of a professional for him to react that way (and he's smart enough to recognize that it's an opportunity to get a lot of free publicity for himself). Like him or not, Seacrest's got the game down. |
