Hey folks,

I have a wall-mounted 42" TV that I need to move from Seocho to HBC. Is there a service I can call to do this? I bought it from HiMart - do you think they'd move it for me? I have a guy who's moving my furniture, but I don't think he'd have the tools to mount a TV, and I don't feel comfortable just tossing it in a Bongo truck either.

Any suggestions?

BTW, thanks to everyone who's been replying to my posts on here. I'm changing jobs, moving, starting a new diet - a LOT going on right now, and I've been getting great advice from everyone - thank you!

HiMart probably subcontracts out their installation service to individual contractors. I'm sure they could hook you up with one of them at the store, or just sell you the service out right.

I wouldn't trust a bongo driver to install the TV either. Move it maybe. Is it LCD or Plasma? LCDs are usually a bit lighter and can be laid any direction and be ok as long as you wrap it up well and don't have any edges of other furniture pointing at the screen. You'd probably be best putting the TV in the backseat of a cab and go over with it. A Plasma should not be laid or moved face side down.

As for the mount and the process itself, the mount that you currently have is yours, or was existing when you moved in? What kind of material is the new wall made of? Drywall with beams, plaster, brick or cement? Is the cable and power near where you want to mount it. I'd imagine a standard service would include hanging it on a wall that doesn't involve some kind of complicated drilling process where they can crack the bricks or something and then just dropping the wires down in a piece of moulding without going very far.

I'm probably making it a lot more complicated than it is. But when I had an airconditioner installed the store nailed me for some extras that I wasn't expecting. Tthe cage for the fan outside was like 1 meter further away then the basic package. And something else small too that I didn't consider. So when you talk to them make sure you know what might be an extra charge.

Thanks for the detailed info. I didn't realize there was so much to it. The mount is mine, and the wall is cement, AFAIK.

I'm gonna try HiMart first.

Wow. HiMart wants 100,000 to move the TV. That seems excessive to me. Does anyone know an alternative service that may be cheaper?

$100 to reinstall it on your new wall? Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Cost me significantly more than that to have my 42" wall mounted in my Auckland apartment and the screen was just sitting in my living room and didn't need to be transported from another location.

Yeah 100,000 seems pretty reasonable. They will uninstall it, pick it up, move it, install it, run the cables, connect everything. And probably guarentee that it won't fall off the wall for a year and if it does it will be replaced. (probably)
