I'm glad you enjoyed it, although I'm not really sure how. TUM pipped in once as well, but I think CC is right that it was mostly just the 2 of us at that point. I just hit a breaking point after hearing such outlandish opinions without any kind of info to back it up and felt compelled to respond. Uninformed opinionated people are a pet peeve of mine.
@CC: I don't think I've ever resorted to name calling on this forum before, and almost never do in real life. I was civil before his posts got ridiculous. But the comments he made later were so far off from reality that I knew there was something amiss (check my initial crazy post for the list on page 4). Floating world actually called his thinking "far out" before I did. Normally I just let that stuff go, but as I said, I hit a breaking point. I wanted to see how far he'd go to defend such ideas and what kinds of proof he could find to back it up. Turns out the answers are far, and none.
@visitorq: Guess you didn't have any links after all. "Noobies" don't have sources, which is why they're wrong. You proved to all of us that you have no idea what you're talking about. When you're responses involve calling me a "noob" and "do I have to explain the obvious" (instead of actual explanations), it's time to reevaluate your position. |

Did you "cringe" at his first post when he called me "crazy"? Or when he continued to do so in each subsequent reply? (blatantly violating the TOS, not that I'm one to report such pettiness, nor do I strike the first blow)... Or are you just sticking your nose into this (having contributed nothing to the discussion up until now) to be self-righteous? Seriously, why do you even bother?
(and ftw, I can also recall you yourself hurling a few insults my way in past threads, so you're hardly one to be preaching on this subject) |
I noticed that you're almost always the first to go that route. You were with me at least.
Why not stop it? Weren't you given a temp ban at one point (I may be wrong in that)? Seriously, you're insistence on calling people names gets annoying.
Please stop. |

Absolute nonsense. I make a point of not doing it. But there are plenty of arrogant know-it-all types on here willing to throw the first punch. I just give it right back to them.
And I am quite sure it was you insulted me first in that exchange. Can't be bothered to look it up though (feel free)...

I'm fine thanks. I surely don't need your advice about such things, and living in a glass house you shouldn't throw stones. |

I gave you more good, quality sources than you deserved, given your wikipedia garbage you trotted out (and just because you wasted so much money learning nothing in college doesn't mean it's my job to keep educating you for free). Anyway, pearls before swine... |

Wikipedia has been proven as an acceptable source of general information (as I showed before).
Where were your links about FDR's failed policies?
Or how deflation is good?
Or minimum wage kills jobs?
Or the massive unemployment caused by the government?
Or that the government CURRENTLY SUBJUGATES its own population?
Or where I'm wrong about how the economy functions?
Or why Wikipedia is not be a reliable source for general information?
Or how the Fed is responsible for the recent recession?
Or how bailouts have anything to do with regulation?
Or that most regulation is a protection racket?
Or how the US is becoming like China?
Or how America is actually "one of the worst [governments] in all of history"?
How can you say you "trounced" me when you didn't support any of this? Where, exactly, were your "good, quality sources"? |

^ what, do you need a link to figure out the sky is blue too? All of the obvious facts I posit are easily verified by a simple search on google (and having a little bit of common sense would be an asset as well). But I guess you're just to lazy to go look it up for yourself (and even after I provided several sources you just ignored them), the same way you're too lazy to engage in critical thinking or provide primary or professional sources (and instead fall back on wikipedia like the noob you are).
The amount I schooled you in this thread you could practically have a new degree by now. You, on the other hand, haven't provided a single original thought that hasn't been rattled off by talking heads in the mainstream corporate wh0re media (and regurgitated by pretentious yuppies and trendies the world over) a million times. In short, debating with you is predictable and boring. |

Clearly you missed it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliability_of_Wikipedia
I'll explain the problems here:
Where were your links about FDR's failed policies?
I provided a Wikipedia link, and conferred with an experienced high school history teacher. You had no supporting argument other than the GD continued after FDR was elected, and no sources to back up your claim that FDR lengthened the GD. You lost.
Or how deflation is good?
I provided a Wikipedia link which said deflation was bad for an economy, outlined the mechanics, and provided historical context since we left the gold standard. Your rebuttal was a 100+ year old account before we adopted our present currency standard, with no supporting evidence that deflation is good for our current market systems. You lost.
Or minimum wage kills jobs?
I demonstrated that, although my state has a higher minimum wage than the rest of the country, it also has a lower unemployment rate than the rest of the country. You provided no evidence that "minimum wage kills jobs", opting instead to twist my words. You lost.
Or the massive unemployment caused by the government?
Here you just listed a bunch of things without sourcing that they actually cause "massive unemployment" or without explaining any of them. I pointed this out to you and you only addressed the minimum wage issue, which you lost. You failed to provide sources or explanations for anything else here. You lost.
Or that the government CURRENTLY SUBJUGATES its own population? You gave examples of antiquated laws and situations in other countries, neither of which are applicable to current conditions. You then went on to provide no proof of your assertion that it's happening now. You lost.
Or where I'm wrong about how the economy functions?
Not once source. Not one explanation about how (or where) I'm wrong. Just arrogant quips about pigs and pearls, and how I'm such a "noob".
Or why Wikipedia is not be a reliable source for general information? No source, only conjecture. You lost.
Or how the Fed is responsible for the recent recession?
I got you a wiki link that you dismissed for no reason other than instead of citing anything (notice the pattern). You lost.
Or how bailouts have anything to do with regulation?
You brought up bailouts a couple of times. They are not involved in regulation. They happened because regulation was not strong enough. The SEC has even admitted to it. You lost.
Or that most regulation is a protection racket?
Very bold statement. No supporting facts.
Or how the US is becoming like China?
One example, which was easily refuted, because it didn't actually happen and democracy prevailed. You lost.
Or how America is actually "one of the worst [governments] in all of history"?
A couple cases about how America has done some bad things. Demonstrated much lower body counts than the actual worst governments in the world. Claimed I considered acts of war "okay" because they weren't in the same class as one of the "worst of all time". You lost.

I have just demonstrated the lack of anything "schooled", "practical", or "degree" that has come from you.

Yes, you're libertarian talking points are much more original and creative.
I have plenty of original ideas, but this is not the place for them.
Some ideas are "mainstream" for a reason: because experts generally agree on them. |

You must do an awful lot of cringing. Unless you avoid reading his posts like I do. Still, when I do see him violating the TOS, I don't hesitate to report it to the mods. It doesn't matter who started it. Repeat offenders should be warned only so many times. |

As if any mod cares what you have to say. Aside from being an obvious hypocrite, you're one of the least liked and least respected posters on here; who constantly belittles and personally attacks others while offering nothing of substance. But I'm very glad to hear that you waste so much energy on my behalf (to no avail) |

Let's face it, if anyone should be sued for alcoholism, it just might be you. |
Wait, I should actually be the defendant in a suit involving the beer makers?!!
As your lawyer, I advise you to start drinking heavily. |

No man, I lierally meant that you should be sued because you drink to much lol. Don't worry, I'll be your co-def and your character reference. |

Nope. I've got man-won that says it was you who threw out the name calling first. I remember how quick you were to insult. And I notice how it's the same in most of your threads.
If you don't want to take my advice, so be it. But I have no doubt that if you continue to call people names and such on here, you'll find yourself in violation of the TOS again.
Good luck, man. But honestly, why not just stop? Stop with the name calling and such, please. |

I actually don't engage in "name calling" very much. If my opponent begins to act smug/arrogant/pretentious etc. I may engage in an appropriate level of sarcasm or ridicule (to give as good as I get), but for the most part I do make a point of engaging in polite, civil debate with anybody, until such a time as they engage in personal attacks and insult me first (which happens fairly frequently, but even then I very rarely resort to outright insulting anyone). Case in point, that guy in this thread flat-out called me "crazy" just because he didn't agree with my point of view. But I sure don't see you moaning on about that, hm?

I would happily take that bet. Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and dig it up? Then we can settle the matter once and for all. |
