Yes, they �get burned� mostly. At least most seem to in the city. And funerals are a long 3-day affair, if I remember correctly.

I think thats the new trend, yes.

Although up til a decade ago most people still opted for graves or burial mounds.

Can confirm the bolded part having gone through it a couple of times so far.

As for cremation, it is more and more common in Korea.

I've been to several Korean funerals. My question is, how do they transport the deceased (i.e. from the death bed to the crematorium)?

I'm guessing in the back of the all the bongo trucks with canvas covers? Shocked

Ha, while the bongo truck is a possibility, I would guess more likely it is by ambulance, or a converted bus thingy as mentioned.

Was in Busan visiting my wife's father's resting place for his ashes, and I counted 60,000 "guests" minimum. I'm sure there were more, as that was just a building or two.

The hospital in our neighborhood (Kyunghee) has it's own crematorium on site.
