There is a new Korean beer company called 7Brau. They make a pilsner, IPA, and a stout. I've tried the IPA and thought it was a good beer. I cost 5,500won for a glass. Thought I would let you know so you can keep an eye out for it.

It's being sold at marts or just on tap?

I don't see why. You can get excellent import beers in marts in Korea now.
7Brau might be as good for a while but will eventually plummet in standards like the clothing. Unless it gets notoriety internationally that is e.g. like their cosmetics, and electronics etc.

Wow...sure didn't take long before someone crapped on what is otherwise good news that a domestic company if finally expanding into new areas in regards to beer tastes

Good beer or not...availability of import or not..the fact that a Korean company is at least TRYING to produce something other than HITE/CASS/OB/Prime...etc is excellent news for those of us who enjoy beer. This kind of thing can only end in two ways: either the company falls into oblivion, or otherwise succeeds into tapping a niche market (among Koreans) of variety in beer leading to competitors making efforts to do the same, and us the beer lovers benefit from what at a minimum will be more selection, and possibly a decent domestic brew.

I'll for sure try it if I see it. I live in Cheonan, so it's not that easy to get non-Cass/Hite/Max on tap anywhere here. Seoul is an entirely different matter of course. Just go to Craftworks or the Wolfhound.

7Brau is pretty good. I prefer their Pilsner to the IPA.

Apparently, one of the owners at Craftsworks (who shall not be named, but you probably know which one) called 7Brau crap and berated a friend of mine who said "I like Craftworks beer. I like 7Brau beer also". The owner told him not to come to Craftworks again jsut because he said he liked the taste of 7Brau.

I tried it in Beer O'clock but it is available in different places. Check the website for all the outlets.

Quoted for truth. No surprise that haters aren't happy.

That's a real dick move. The 7brau IPA is better than the Craftworks IPA. Sounds like someone is jealous.

You can get 7Brau in Incheon now at "Cheap Shots", a foreigner owned bar near Goose Goose. Although I agree the Craftworks beer is better, 7Brau is ten times better than Cass, OB or Hite. In fact I don't think I have drunk a Korean beer in years. In my opinion they are probably close to the worst beers on the planet.

BTW, the new Bukhansan West Coast ale at Craftworks is great.

It would be awesome if koreans hopped on the microbrewing bandwagon. I have been told that each region has a special soju, but if the started making good beer.... Very Happy

I think there is a lot of Microbrew options...in Seoul at least.

Castle Praha in hongdae. Herzen in Gangnam has microbrew. I believe Big Rock also. Craftworks in Itaewon. Praha in Itaewon. Probably a bunch of other places in Seoul with their own microbrew.

They have it on tap at Prost/District, too. It really is cool to see more and more options popping up around the city.

I was in E-mart last weekend and there is a new brand of Hite as well!

It's called S-hite

It's like Cass Red, stronger than normal.

Logical, Strong hite - lets call it S-hite! Embarassed

Ask for it by name!
