| And I have been aware of the changes for a long time. I even checked with immigration 6 months ago, when I went to drop off my apostilled diploma. The immigration officer kept changing her story as to why I needed another CBC, but none of her reasons made any sense. Has anybody else experienced the same thing? |

Really? Sounds strange because to my knowledge an apostille was not a requirement back then, it had not even been thought of by the local immi.

Maybe she's embarrassed to admit that no record was kept of any documents until September 2010, when the database came into effect.
Thats the stated requirements: anyone applying for an E2 or renewal after 09/10 must provide an apostille not more than 6 months old. |

| It was a requirement for me at the time; I still have copies of it. Well, at least I have some time to try again and, if all else fails, pay through my nose for another one! |

| Are there any Brits out there who have extended their visa using their original apostilled CRB check? |

Me. I have.
But it was done using an apostilled CRC I had originally submitted to them after September 2010. Thus.. they already had it on file.
The problem you're encountering is that they lost any record of your original CBC.. because it was originally submitted before Sept 2010. At a time when records were not kept.
If you still have the original to show them now, it might be worth a try. But I suspect they will say its no good.. because apostilles have to be under 6 months old when submitted. |

| My boss called immigration and got a different story. They said my CRC was in a different office, and they will check to see if they can find it. Fingers crossed! |

Help please, need some quick advice!
I got a job with a PS and have sent all my stuff to Korvia.
They have just called me to tell me that there's a problem, as the signature on the documents (notary) doesn't have the stamp, this is due to it being done by a registered solicitor, not notary.
Will she have to send me them back and me get them done by a notary public?
Arghh! |

This is what I keep telling people.
A solictor is not necessarily a notary.
A lawyer is not necesarily a notary.
A mayor, doctor, dentist, policeman, even a magistrate may or may not be registered as a public notary.
The Korean embassy in London, who processes your E2, has access to the official registry. If the person doing your stamp is not registered, then you have a problem. |

She is registered with the FCO, hence I was able to get the apostille. I called the consulate in the UK and they told me that as long as I got the apostille then it should be fine.
Either way, I have ordered a new CRB check just in case so I'm ready to get that and a copy of my degree notarised as soon as possible. Will phone disclosure scotland in about an hour so they have my application through, and try to make sure they notarise it for me this time. |

| So do we need university transcripts or not anymore? I keep reading that the requirement was cancelled in 2010, but I'm still getting recruiters telling me to gather them with the rest of my VISA docs. |

Hey all,
Couldn't find it on the thread.
If I sent my Passport, application form with visa number etc to the Korean embassy last Tuesday (special delivery so arrive by 1pm Wednesday), should it be arriving back with me today (Wednesday) or is it more likely to be sent today and arrive tomorrow?
Cheers |

I collected mine in person 8 days later.
But remember they may take as long as they wish.. or not at all. |

Good thread and lots of useful info cheers.
The FCO in Milton Keynes is now via mail service and not 'walk ups' . |

Can anybody tell me if I need to order 1 or 2 copies of the criminal background check and get either 1 or 2 copies of my degree notarized?
Varying agencies' guides state different things.
Some are stating that you need extra copies to bring to Korea for the 'Office of Education'
I'm a little stressed because all I have now is 1 apostilled, notarized copy of my degree and 1 apostilled, notarized CBC. |
