Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone else has just finished up a contract or contracts with SMOE, and if so when you received your end of contract pay (extra month(s)' bonus/departure allowance) (or when you were told to expect to). Cheers |

You should receive with your last paycheck. If you didn't, you'd better contact your school and your district to find out what the holdup is. |

I was having the same issue. I'm in Nambu District and am not re-signing my contract. My head co-teacher initially told me that SMOE was responsible for the exit allowance/severance pay, but John Park at SMOE said that the school should have applied for these funds already with the district office. It takes time to process, but apparently they owe it to you at least 2 weeks after your contract is finished if not with your last paycheck. My co-teacher is still acting clueless and keeps telling me how busy the school's office of general affairs is. I'm not sure if his ignorance is negligence or something a little more dishonest. If talking to your co-teacher doesn't work, I would definitely keep in touch with John Park and try also to get in touch with someone in the district office. I will be trying that tomorrow depending on what my co-teacher says. I'm with the OP in looking for any other helpful info. |

I got in touch with Jon and apparently it can take up to two weeks for it to come through. As I'm still living/working in Korea, it's not really an issue for me if it's late, but it seems like they would try to expedite it considering how many people leave the country after their contract is up. |

Well, 2 weeks on, and still nothing. Not my exit allowance, nor my severance. Anyone else in the same boat? Planning to raise hell with my school's accountant tomorrow... |
