^ the difference is, that unlike you, I don't go around acting like a big crybaby when it happens. I did not report that person to the mods, because I don't take it nearly that seriously (I don't go crying to mommy ever time somebody says something I don't like).

As for the the above, nobody in their right mind would equate that to "name calling" or "insults". The way I described you there was more or less just objective fact (you do act self-righteous, and your behavior on this forum often is cowardly and non-committal, not to mention hypocritical). Hey, if the shoe fits...

You on the other hand called me an "idiot", which is worse (and something you could get written up by the mods for). Someone who goes around blatantly insulting people as you have done in the past doesn't get to lecture others on "personal attacks". Your credibility is absolutely zilch.

But keep blubbering away and digging yourself into an ever deeper hole of hypocrisy! If nothing else, it's quite entertaining Laughing

I agree with both vistorq and Captain Corea.

Vistorq does make passive aggresive insults towards others. The way quoted above by CC is a prime example. And then to say his personal opinion of someone is "more or less objective fact" (is it possible to be more or less than a fact???) is also wrong to assume and seems to be a way to justify his passive aggresive slurs. However, in this particular thread someone did call him crazy first. So I think he is within his right (in this thread) to defend himself.

CC also shouldn't take it so seriously. Who cares if someone hiding behind a forum avatar insults you. Especially on the current events forum. CC should grow a thicker skin. Also, CC shouldn't insult others and then complain about being insulted.

I think passive-aggressive is the wrong term to use. Engaging in mockery/sarcasm or occasionally taunting some people who take themselves way too seriously (and usually deserve it) would be more like it. Guilty as charged, I guess, not that I really care much. But, yeah, enough about me already...

Exactly.

So, when I complain about your personal attacks, I'm a cry-baby, but when you complain about personal attacks, you are...a tough guy
How does that work?

You challenged me to show your name calling... I linked to it and proved it. I showed how you rolled it out first. Now, you claim I called you an idiot...let me ask you. - got a link and a quote for that? Did that happen before or after you came at me with the attacks listed above?

In your response to me, you claim that they are NOT insults, yet to others you gleefully admit to mocking and taunting people. Yet you call me the hypocrite? :/

Perhaps I should use your strategy then. You do come across as an idiot on this forum. You strike me as one of the biggest idiots on here. I see it as a more or less objective fact that you are an idiot.

So, would that be a personal attack? Yup. In my books it would be. And I'd expect to be called on it as such. If you don't see it as a personal attack, perhaps you are a .... Wink

--------------------------------------

Jr, not to worry. I don't fret about posters on here beyond the confines of this forum. I don't mind calling ppl on their bunk while I'm here, but I never lose sleep over it once I click away.

I smell a double or nothing wager here.

So in my opinion (which is worthless like everyone elses) CC is owed the man won because he did show a link where visitorq insulted him using mockery and taunts (which visitorq freely admitted to).

However, vistorq claims that CC has called him an idiot. If it is true and was unprovoked I'd say that the man won debt should be erased and everyone moves on their merry way but if not, I think visitorq should owe CC e man won.

Hahahaha

Too bad there's no chance of collecting. Truth be told, if I lost a bet on here, I'd actually meet the guy and pay up. Most likely we'd talk about it and laugh our butts off.

Heh. There's zero chance I'd even attempt to search for a needle in a haystack, through an unknown thread from several months back. And really, I don't need to, because CC already knows perfectly well that he is guilty as charged (and I'd be surprised if you yourself don't remember as well, since I recall you were also present in some of those threads).

I flat out reject that mockery or sarcasm is tantamount to name calling.

Here's a hint... I called you that (or something similar) in the same thread that I've linked to AFTER you went on for pages insulting me.

Sad though that you were so gung-ho about taking me up on my bet... Only to shrink away from it later.

Ah well, no surprise. I should have known better.

Well, being the helpful guy that I am, I took it upon myself and went to searcheslcafe.com and put - in visitorq idiot "captain corea". I did captain corea in quotes so we don't get results for anyone else whose name might include captain or corea. But only results for captain corea.

The only hits that came up were for this thread, and the "More stupidity on the subway" thread (a personal favorite of mine!) But they were both talking about someone woman on a subway or Julius, I didn't bother reading the whole thing again so I'm not sure.

Mockery:
mockery (mk-r)
n. pl. mockeries
1. Scornfully contemptuous ridicule; derision.
2. A specific act of ridicule or derision.
3. An object of scorn or ridicule: made a mockery of the rules.
4. A false, derisive, or impudent imitation: The trial was a mockery of justice.
5. Something ludicrously futile or unsuitable: The few packages of food seemed a mockery in the face of such enormous destitution.

Seems pretty similar to me. But I'm open to be convinced otherwise if it means you and CC continue this hilarity!

CC - To be fair, you did make a remark "How very American of you." In response to visitorq's comment about having armed citizens. Kind of snarky and it did come first. So you might have to wait to cash in on that bet and share a beer with visitorq. Laughing

But I didn't find anything about idiots. So you might still win on the technicality that he said you called him an idiot.

Oooohhhhh.... I'm excited.

But as for the "very American" comment... Is that insulting? As far as I know, Americans in general are quite determined about their right to bear arms. And that thread very quickly went in that direction. It'd be like him calling me "very Canadian" for supporting national health care.... Didn't know that sort was insulting.

If an American takes me calling them such, in that type of topic, as an insult - my apologies.

Well you are taking a very diverse group of people and stereotyping their beliefs. So some might be offended by that. Especially regarding the 2nd ammendent which is an ideological lightening rod. Due to the different ways people interpret it.

Yes, your comment was smug, i.e. loosely "very Canadian" or more accurately "very Ontarian."

Well then... if saying standing for individual gun ownership rights is very American, and standing for national health care is very Canadian - are both insults...

then I am very sorry.

I look at BOTH of those examples of being representative of those countries. They both have them firmly entrenched as law, and as far as i know, are both supported by the populace of their respective nations.

So, is it now improper to ascribe ANY belief to ANY nation?

You can post whatever snide ignorance you want. Just don't be surprised when some people stop giving you the respect you feel you're so entitled to.
