What are the rules regarding the criminal record check for F visa holders? I applied for a part time adult gig and the manager has requested a crb check in accordance with the MoE regs. Does this apply to adult teaching too? I was quite surprised because nobody else has asked me to provide one. I had one done 5 years ago and I've been in Korea ever since. It seems nobody is quite sure of the specifics. |

Everyone under the auspices of the MOE is now required to submit one (regardless of visa class or country of origin).

Obviously that is correct, but it doesn't really answer the important question... Who is under the auspices of the MOE and who is not?
I've been told that adult positions are not regulated by the MOE (universities, adult hagwons, etc). However, as cj1976 pointed out, many of those jobs are now asking for backround checks too. As far as I can tell no one really knows what's going on, including the MOE and the employers. |

I've just been hired by a uni and they haven't mentioned it at all. I thought it was only required if you are working with kids - which makes complete sense. |

Our university doesn't require a check of any such sort.
I was discussing requirements with a recruiter friend who hires F-Visas to teach kindy. They require only local checks. No home-country check. |

universities = discretion of the employer.
hagwan = MOE.

Does that include adult hagwons like YBM? |

If they are licensed as a foreign language institute then yes.

I sent away and got mine last year. But now my POE is also asking for a Korean Criminal Check this year too for me to renew my contract. I'm all for protecting kids, but these constant document checks and medical exams are getting annoying. I really think they should ask for them every 3 or 4 years instead. |
