|
|
This question has probably already been answered hundreds of times but the search function wasn't working so I'm sorry if this thread is repetitive.....
I've just moved to Suwon and as the only full-time foreign teacher at my school I don't really know anyone and I am finding it pretty hard to meet people and make friends.
Does anyone have any tips/suggestions?
Thanks |

I was searching for a facebook group for another city, and I was sure there should have been one. About a week later I tried again, and I think the wind had changed because it was right there... -_-
You could also try meetup.com, and find a group you like. Tbh you'll probably just fall on a friendly group of foreigners sooner or later. |

Where in Suwon do you live? I lived there for more than 2 years so maybe able to at less point you in the right direction.
Facebook is a good start with at least 2 groups up and running. |

Suwon is a big place, so it does depend on where you are, but The Big Chill is a good hangout if you're by the old castle Hwasung. If you're near the station, Sam Ryan's isn't a bad place.
If you're like me in Jangan /Jungja dong, then the previous two options might be a little bit far--try asking your coteachers where they go. They can tend to point you to the nice areas.
Also, this is the group you're looking for:

It's been awhile since I lived in Suwon, but I always found The Big Chill to be a terrible place for meeting new people. Seemed like all the cliques always went there. Like I said, though, I haven't been to the Big Chill in a long time, so maybe things have changed. |

I always found that coffee shop across from Suwon station to have had a number of foreigners in it. |
