I know this is in the Off-Topic Forum, but was wondering about some specifics. I'll just more or less copy what I wrote there...
I just got back to Korea and my passport expires shortly after my contract finishes. I presume I'd have to wait until I get my ARC card before sending my passport to my embassy for renewal, right?
And I suppose I would need to give my school a new photocopy of the first page so they can update their records? And they, in turn would submit the update to kimmi? Or how does that work?
Also, do they give the old passport back? I think I'd seen other people get it back (though it couldn't be used). I was just wondering how immigration cancels (stamps) the visa when it expires if it's in the old passport. Or do they put a new E-2 sticker in the new passport?
I know once you have the ARC, the E-2 sticker doesn't matter, but still, just wondering about the logistics. |

I got the new passport here a few months ago. After receiving it you have to notify K-Immigration. They did not put a new sticker in my passport. Don't rely on your school to do it. Just do it yourself.
I got my old passport back from the embassay. They punched a hole in it. |

Thanks, you guys.
The reason I was asking about informing my school is that they (and GPOE) have the photocopy of my current passport on file. I thought they would need to be informed of the update, too. It was not a question of relying on them to do things for me. |
