Korea is one noisy place. It seems that nothing is ever done quietly. Noise is omnipresent, and my ear plugs just don't cut it. Does anyone know where one might purchase decent ear plugs that actually block out noise. The 1500 won ear plugs sold at stationary shops in Korea simply don't do it.
Thanks in advance,

I bought those and really didn't like them. They're a bad shape, very uncomfortable, don't keep out noise. |

I used to work with power tools a lot, so I used to have the orange earplugs you'd find at hardware stores. I also used them at night while I was sleeping, but was always hoping to find something that blocked the noise a little better. I tried many different kinds but was never satisfied. Finally last year while I was back in Vancouver, I picked up a container of Flents Quiet Time and brought them back to Korea with me. They are by far the best earplugs I've used. They're not perfect, but I rarely get woken up anymore, even when someone's pounding on my front door.
You can also get them through Amazon, but their reviews don't look that great. I believe it's because they experimented with a different manufacturer for awhile and so the quality went to crap, but apparently they've got it all sorted out now and they're back to normal.
Here's the link on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Flents-Quiet-Time-Comfort-Plugs/dp/B001F5VDVE/ref=sr_1_cc_3?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1331724282&sr=1-3-catcorr
Whatever brand you choose, try to get the NRR 33 rating, as I've seen some with lower numbers which don't block as much noise. |

Is there any extra charge from customs or whatever when ordering from amazon. I think I might have ordered something to Korea years ago, but I'm not sure. |

Not usually. Only with certain items. And over a certain amount. |

Do you know how much the threshold is and what the charges are by any chance?
The delivery is more expensive than the product for these earplugs, so I think I'll give it a miss. Wish they'd get an amazon.co.kr!! |

I used to be a contractor many years ago, and the 3M foam plugs worked great for me. I think maybe the problem is that you don't know how to insert them in your ears properly. You need to compress them lengthwise by rolling them between your fingers before inserting them in your ears. They'll expand once inserted, making for a much more comfortable and effective fit. |
