I brought my Samsung Galaxy S from home, U.S., and I was wondering If I
can use it in Korea. Anyone know what I would have to do to make this happen? I've been told I need to visit the Samsung Service center to get it
converted... any truth to this? |

Samsung sold so many different versions of the device under a blanket brand name Galaxy S(2) around the world, therefore you need to look into the technical specification of your handset in particular for unlink/downlink frequency and interface standard. They have to be compatible with those used by SK Telecom or Olleh KT.
Rule of thumb is that if you can use your phone on roaming in Korea with your home carrier's SIM card, then your handset is capable of tapping into local networks.
There's a form you fill out and toss to Korean gov. upon subscribing a local plan, provided that your handset is technologically compatible and usable in Korea, but that suffices for any 'regulatory issue' which you might have heard of from old sources. |
