|
|
Like many ex-pats, I am considering working in the non-teaching field in Korea on an E-7 visa. I have been offered a couple jobs, but the problem arises in proving I have "1 year of experience in a related field."
My only PAID work experience has been teaching ESL in Korea. I do have relevant VOLUNTEER experience from my time in Korea. I was told, however, that in order to engage in volunteering activities in Korea, I must get permission from immigration and that some teachers have even been deported/fined for volunteering without immigration's permission - is this true?!
Should I delete these experiences from my resume? If it is okay to leave them on, can I use them to prove my "1 year of related experience" or does the E-7 require paid related experience?
Thank you for any help you can give |

I had to give proof of my experience via signed letters from my previous company. Don't know bout your situation but I don't believe volunteering will count. |

Hi oppa637,
Thanks for your help . I've heard differing opinions about volunteering. I guess I'll give immigration another call. If I ever get a clear response, I'll post it up here for those interested. |

The guy who took my place at a job in 2008 got an E-7 with volunteer experience. However, I do not know the specifics. It will probably be difficult... |

Zyzyfer - If possible, could you PM me his contact information? Maybe I can ask him for the details so I can follow his lead in applying for my E-7. |
