I don't know what you would call it, but are there any sorts of TV cable packages that include channels that broadcast American shows? Like Comedy Central for instance.
My grandma who lives in LA subscribes to this special Direct TV package that is like only Korean channels and gets something like 20-25 Korean language channels and none of the regular English language channels. It's probably a long shot, but are there any such packages like this in Korea? |

I like to have the T.V. on while I do work on my computer so I can occasionally look up and watch or just for background noise. Plus there are a lot of shows that I would watch, but don't necessarily want to go through the trouble of downloading... like reruns. |

Superaction, OCN, OCN Series, SkyHD, XTM to some extent, uhhh, CGsomething all show big name dramas from the US and some from the UK.
I'm kind of touchy about this right now, my provider decided to cut off EVERY English program-showing channel I have and require that I pay them more money every month to get them back, 2/3s of the way through a 2 year contract. Jerks! |

Sounds shady of your provider, but I'm glad to hear that English Language programs in Korea isn't out of the question. Would definitely be worth the extra money. |

How to waste money 101.
Get a second monitor and use torrents. |

How to fail at offering advice 101.
If he already has a TV, wouldn't spending money for a 2nd monitor be wasting money when that money could be used for a cable subscription?
I like to have background noise on my TV while I am doing other things on my computer. Lots of people do that. Some people listen to music while doing things on tehir computer. Other people turn on the TV. |

I have "internet tv" from SK Telecom... I get...
CGV, OCN, Mplex, SUPER ACTION, XTM, Sky HD, HD ONE, History Channel, National Geographic, and a couple BBC stations
OnStyle, HomeStory, and Food TV have some American/Canadian shows sometimes, as well (like Sex and the City, The New Girl, Project Runway, etc)
It's about 60,000 won a month but you get a TON of channels and also can buy recent/classic Western (and Asian, of course) movies and series for pretty cheap as well ^.^ |

| American TV over the airwaves: channel 34 in Seoul area; channel 7 in Taegu (you will need to disconnect your cable TV coax and connect either indoor "rabbit ears" antenna or outdoor antenna (depending on how far you are from the transmitter). You can google AFN Pacific TV to see the schedule/lineup.......... |

Well it wouldn't be a waste of money to me since it's something I enjoy.

| For those interested, Season 2 of Games of Thrones is premiering tomorrow. Not sure when it'll be shown in Korea though. |
