Hello,

you guys probably know my situation now so I wouldn't dare bore you with the details again. I have been talking to a few schools (passed on to me via recruiters willing to assist me), and to be honest, the interviews were not very impressive. On the one hand, I desperately want to get back to Korea and work again, however I do not want to find myself entrapped by another shady school once again. I agree completely with the idea that if I tell the truth, the hakwon directors that accept me are probably not going to be the most trustworthy.

So, an option open to me is to come to Korea on a tourist VISA and search for a job that way. Once found, potentially do the VISA run to Japan (maybe paid by the school) and then start work. The issues of money and time are also important, and without a place to stay, it could get expensive fast. I do have friends in Korea that would most likely put me up, so I'm sure I could find a way around that one. What I wanted to ask is, what is the best way of going about this?

- When I arrive in Korea, who should I turn to to seek employment. Is it best to contact a recruiter, tell him I have my documents and am in Korea and work from there?

- Maybe it is best to just pop in to individual schools myself. Then again, I have no real idea of what the best places to go would be.

- Would I be able to find many jobs teaching adults if I was in Korea in person with my documents? Would I be able to find University positions if there in person?

Cheers.

We don't know, that is why you go on a tourist visa. You look for 1 job. It doesn't have to be many.

Informative as ever...

Yes I do, hence the fact I would be able to find friends who would put me up.

Answers to your questions in my experience of doing a similar thing:

Q1 - The visa run flights should be pay for by the new school and normally involves going to either Osaka or Fukuoka for a couple of days. The downside is that you'll have to wait 3-4weeks in Korea whilst your visa is being processed plus the time it takes for you to find a school.

Q2 - YES

Q3 - If you've heard of an open position maybe it's worth popping in.

Q4 - There would be more than if you where at home, but still not a huge number.

Q5 - Uni's have already completed their hiring for this academic year, there maybe a few going but it's unlikely. Also having read your previous posts I don't think you have a MA or 2-3 years TEFL experience, which would make the situation close to impossible.

Good luck in your search, and I hope your situation improves.

OK YTMND...you are obviously one of those moronic characters that many people have alluded to here on the forums...you take pleasure in picking the bones of the words people type and to be honest, I'm bored...you fail to understand my request of you so I will tell you again for the record (converse with me only if you have something constructive to say)...if you feel compelled to spout your verbal diarrhea, then please, find some other toilet.

Thanks for the advice modernseoul. I plan on trying to find suitable positions from here in the UK as a main priority. If nothing turns up however, I will probably come out and do my search in person.

Yea, I am one of those wacky posters who think living with your wife instead of friends might be a viable solution. My mistake. It won't happen again.

No, you are one of those rampant machine gun posters, who offers a tidbit of insight, while derailing the vast majority of threads you choose to comment on. Anyone who follows this board will know your former moniker as well. A shut in in China, and a seemingly very bitter individual. Give it a break.

The guy is married to a Korean woman and doesn't want to live with her when he goes back to Korea? I find that a bit odd. I don't see how it makes me bitter.

Yea, I am in China, is that a crime? Your attacks on me are falling apart.

Are you stupid or just a very good actor? This is by the way, the last time I correspond with you, for fear I may actually lose a brain cell or two in the process...

I have explained my situation before in terms of my personal situation and I have no intention in doing so again. So...you have succeeded in derailing yet another thread and if possible, I would like to get back on topic.

Let's draw a line under it. Please, no more attacks on this YTMD character and for the love of God, do not get embroiled in a battle of wits with him, the guy is obviously unarmed.

So... Tourist VISA and finding a job...

Yes, you don't need to make multiple threads on your issue. It was already suggested by me and others in another thread of yours to come on a tourist visa with your documents.

Also, people have suggested since you are married you could get an F visa and not have to worry so much about the visa process. It's in your hands, armed or unarmed.

Make the most of it. Please don't start another thread about this. Just call up your travel agent, get over to Korea, and good luck. All the best.

+1

There are those people in life who are just gluttons for punishment. OP, you are one of them. Seriously, you've started umpteen threads on this situation, you've been given plenty of free, good advice on the situation from people who have been in your situation, yet none of it seems to work for you?

There are just so many things that are wrong with your situation that all come back to you - you won't accept the fact that sometimes life is tough and you won't man up to face the situation. Beg, borrow, or steal the money you need to meet the F visa requirement. You've abandoned a wife who has been spurned by her family for marrying you - do you see the total scumbag irony of this situation?

Have you noticed how the MOST HELPFUL advice came on your FIRST THREAD ABOUT THIS TOPIC??? You won't get any more helpful advice because it's all been given. You want to gripe and complain about ytmnd, but what will it take - do we need to slap you with a dead cat - for you to realize that there is nothing more to be said on this issue. Either get on the plane, get over here TO YOUR WIFE and find a job, or stay in the UK in your mums basement.

Also, message board etiquette - one topic, one thread. Your masochistic whining is a single topic.

OP, sounds like you're rejecting 90% of the jobs available in Korea (teaching kids)and only seem to want a nice cushy adult/uni job... (the most competitive) That is what beggars belief. You don't have the luxury of picking the cream of the crop jobs....that comes later when you have your F6...yes there's a whole bunch of bad hagwans but theres plenty of good ones - btw is your wife networking with everyone she knows to find you a trustworthy one?(that's what my Korean girlfriend -now wife - did before I came here..it bypasses recruiters fees etc and hagwans like that a lot..)....plus if you are specifying you want adult only - that's pretty damn particular especially for 1)someone as young and inexperienced as you 2)someone in your predicament..

As others have said repeatedly (and you don't seem to have understood the significance of this advice) do everything humanly possible to get that F6....which may mean slogging your guts out for 9 months in a crappy job. When you get that visa - you can hand in your notice and then start looking for the good jobs/nice PT after-school stuff, set yourself up as a legal privates tutor etc adult and even uni..(everything in what you've written seems to imply that your not willing to do what needs to be done in the short term to better yourself and your new wife's situation - that's why responders are being less than sympathetic to your situation) That F6 is your golden ticket... that should be priority number one...

in short - Get back to Korea, start getting money in the bank and apply for that F6 ASAP....

Hello Nathan, nice to see another one crawl out of the woodwork...

You'll be happy to know that I am writing this from the small, yet quaint confines of my mothers basement. Before I continue, may I request, no dead cats, I'm more of a dog man myself...

I fail to see how this thread equates to whining or can be described as masochistic. I also fail to see how you have the right to dictate the ins and outs of my personal life to me. Scumbag irony? Abandoning my wife? My only request of you is that you refrain from talking out of your ass. Thank you in advance.

If I ask about the logistics of finding University positions, this does not mean that I am abandoning all other jobs, it means that I want to know about the logistics of finding University positions. Tough concept to grasp but try and keep up.

This thread is not about my wife and it's not about the F2 VISA. I am asking how to go about getting a job on a tourist VISA. If you do not have any helpful advice, then why come here to attack my marriage and personal life? Whilst you have spelled out message board etiquette to me, the expected etiquette is very similar here in my post. So...I will try to stop the masochistic whining and in return, could you please spare me the masochistic bullshit? Thanks a million.

Shocked

Maybe you need to start a new thread for this one. I think you are posting off topic to your original post. Before you just wanted to find a job, now you want to get one on a tourist visa. Just in case you didn't know, that's illegal.

The saga continues.
