Thursday me and a staff member from my hagwon go to an immigration office in Seoul to transfer over my work visa (I had worked in Ulsan for 2 years before). Upon arriving at the immigration office there is a sign that says that they have issued all of their numbers for the day and that they cannot help us. All they were able to do at the time was take my fingerprints. The staff member from my hagwon tells me to give him my notarized criminal background check, notarized degree, alien card, passport, release letter, change of workplace form. He tells me that he will go to immigration on Friday morning. With that I think that we will at leaset have it done for the weekend. On Friday he avoids me all day at work, I text him and he tells me not to worry but he provides no details and he does not answer his phone. I have been at the hagwon for 2 weeks and I want this BS taken care of and I want my documents IN MY HANDS, NOT SOMEBOEY ELSE'S WHO HAS NOTHING TO LOOSE IF THEY ARE LOST!!!!!
Bottom line:
I HATE having another person having all of my documents and this is ruining my weekend.
What happends if he looses all of my stuff??????
No rest for the wicked.

| Isn't it a bit early to worry? Unless running out of numbers is not true, I would give it till Tuesday. Maybe the school was actually doing something and didn't have a phone with them. |

The man has valid concerns.
Last recruiter I had the misfortune to deal with "lost" my documents. I had to make a fuss before she "found" them (under the seat of her car with discarded coffee cups).
My friend had his degree certificate folded in half by his principal. He nearly hit the roof.
Entrusting valuable pieces of paper to a Korean recruiter is like giving the Mona Lisa to a 5 year-old child. |

| You aren't getting most of those documents back anyway. That said, you really shouldn't be without your ARC and passport. Why is it that every hagwon puts their least capable individual in charge of dealing with visa stuff? |

The staff member is avoiding you because there is a problem.
Most likely he didn't go in to Immigration to file your documents, for whatever reason: laziness, too busy, got up late. Possibly he has misplaced your documents.
Check with him immediately on Monday and find out what happened. If he tells you he has filed them with Immigration, that's fine, just confirm that he did it Monday morning and not Friday.
If he avoids you again on Monday, you should insist on getting your documents back and going to Immigration yourself. Go to his office and get the documents. Stay there until you get them. If he doesn't have them there, insist on going to his car or wherever the documents are to recover them.
It is possible something else has happened: the documents are lost, the school has decided they don't really want you, etc. If the documents haven't been filed with Immigration and you can't get them back, then something else is going on. |
