Am looking for a place that sells gold wedding rings. I know that around Jongno sam ga there are many little jewelery shops but I am not sure I could trust them. So if anybody has bought a simple gold wedding band in Korea, could you give me the location and cost? thanks in advance |

I found some in Art Center in Incheon. I had to go to a bunch of places until I could find plain gold bands. We got ours really thin, because he wasn't used to wearing a ring and wanted something light, and I have really small hands. We're going to get awesome hammered ones for our anniversary in 5-10 years, but we knew that there was little-to-no chance of finding that style here.
We'd almost gotten some stupid 2-toned, filigree-styled rings that cost 2 million won because I was about to give up on ever finding something plain, but the guy said it would take 2 weeks to size them down. For 2 million won, I wanted them within a day or two. Where I ended up getting the rings, they sized them down in an hour.
It's real gold, because I'm allergic to all other metals besides gold and platinum. I can't even wear sterling silver. Send me a PM if you can't find anything on your own, and I'd be happy to show you where to go.
Also, congratulations!

I bought my wedding band near Jonggak Station. It is a plain band. It is 14k white gold. I believe it was around 350-400,000W. |

Go to Singapore and buy them. Korea is a ripoff when it comes to jewelry and much of it is fake. |

Plain bands don't cost a fortune, and any money that you might save would be negated by buying plane tickets. If you're talking about gemstones, then sure, travel, but for plain gold? Nah.
(That is, unless you're going on vacation anyway...) |

Tiffanys will have what your looking for at a price that you make you feel like you've surely gotten real 14K gold. |

I've checked Korean media and many places that sell gold do so by lying about the karats. So if you want to get what you pay for, avoid Korea for buying gold. |

Yeah, but I'm allergic to anything under 14k, so wearing it for an hour or two is a decent test. We got thin, plain bands, and I weighed them, so at least we weren't ripped off. They aren't our "forever" bands, though. We will upgrade in a few years to something perfect, when we are in a place that offers choices.
It's good to know, though. Thanks for the tip! |

My Korean family bought a wedding ring for their son. He insisted we get it in the USA. They are Korean, and distrust local jewelers that much. |

I in fact have gone through the process myself as I got married 2 years ago here. This is my advice...
For any ring with a gemstone... bluenile.com has the best prices by far. I bought my wife a high quality 1 carat diamond ring with platinum band for around $6k. I think they ship internationally, but to be honest I didn't feel comfortable with that so I shipped it to my parents in the US. They came and visited Korea for the engagement party and brought the ring in person.
However, for the actual wedding bands... I had them made here in Korea. There is a guy (a real craftsman) in Jongno. He made them from scratch and we watched the whole process together. He's super talented, fair priced, and watching our rings be custom made was a magical experience.
It's a tiny little shop...check out: http://www.sinbyart.co.kr
The guy is straightforward, honest, and even works in platinum. |

Hey Hoost. I don't have enough posts for a pm, but if you happen to see this, could you pm me about the place you went? I need a little more info that I can't find on that website, not being fluent in Korean and all. Thanks! |

Hey. If you happen to see this, just wondering where exactly the shop is and does he speak any English?
Thanks. |
