Is there a gym in the Gangnam area that has everything someone would want in a gym?

If so, where?

I work out at the LIG Fitness Center - about 2 minutes away from Gangnam Stn.

Not a bad place. The trainers are competent (and stay out of your way), and the crowd is fairly young.

It's not a 'dungeon gym', but more of a 'pretty' one.

How is the free-weight area? Do they have any squat racks?

By "pretty", do you mean people just go there to look to at the gym (i.e. dress up nice and do very little actual working out), or do you mean that they just clean the place and make it presentable to the members?

Nope, no squat racks. Free weight dumbells go up to around 80lbs. And by "pretty", I mean... No squat racks. lol

The people there are not the "crazy, swing the weight around" types, nor the " talk to me please" types, but they are also not hard core. I think two of the trainers have done shows, but beyond that, they are into general fitness.

It's no dungeon. It's bright, airy, and clean.

The captain works out in a gym without squat racks?
Say it isn't so.
What ever is this world coming to?

Oh well...what can you do?
Oh yeah...that's right...shut up and squat!Wink

Cheers...good luck with the training. Cool

I have a herniated disk that likes to revisit me every so often. Because of that, I find that staying away from any spine compression is good for me.

Yeah, I'm a wuss. lol

How much do you pay? And, do you know if they offer single day passes? Do they also have steam/sauna?

Nope, no sauna. The one in the Gangnam Finance Center does though.

I believe the LIG one has a monthly fee of around 180,000won. Not sure on that, as I get it subsidized through my company.

The GFC's prices are even higher.

New Mecca Fitness outside Yeoksam station is a decent gym, if not awesome. It's cheap--just about 50,000 a month, and there are a good amount of free weights and even a squat rack. The weights are usually not too crowded, since everyone just uses the treadmills.

I used to go to one that was about 70,000 a month. Now they built a gym for the tenants within the complex that costs 20,000 a month. Reading some of your posts, I realize I must be lucky.

There is a gym at Gangnam-gu office station...

Not sure what location you want when you say Gangnam area... technically that's the whole bottom half of Seoul.

Anyway, this gym is like 60-80,000 won a month, depending on length of contract. It is a very nice new gym, in the same building as one of the subway station exits. I believe it's No.2.

Has full dumbell sets, barbells, pretty much all the major machines, cardios, and the fixings.

It's called Club S. It's in the Paragon Building 2nd Floor.
